Linus Gabriel Sebastian & Linus Media Group / Linus Tech Tips - Narcissistic corporate shill YouTuber driving his media empire into the ground. KILL COUNT: 2

  • 🔧 Actively working on site again.
My prior gripe with the show was that Luke had become 100% disinterested with even being there
Luke is now in the same place as your average mcdonalds employee.
He doesn't care about his job anymore because it's a dead end for him.

The company isn't going to grow and it has no future, so there's no point in putting in some heroic effort to keep things afloat.
Linus killed all goodwill he had with the broader community, they are no longer capable of putting out interesting content and the company is in massive debt that it won't be able to repay.

So he's coasting. Collecting his paycheck until the inevitable crash and burn.
And then all the money he's saved up over the years by living frugally will look real nice next to Linus' foreclosed mcmansion.

Linus' foreclosed mcmansion
Even if Linus rides his company and side ventures into the ground, he'll never be in a position to walk away with less than $10M just based on the property and cash reserves he has.

If Linus ever does want to retire from the YouTube grind, he will have to downsize his company first,. Whether this comes before or after his ventures start to crumble under their own weight is anyone's guess. There will be a coast period for a while, where Linus can scramble around and keep outlooks good enough to limit the cuts, but eventually he's going to be put in a situation where the only sustainable version of his operation is one he's not interested in, mostly down to the limited staff he can retain and what projects he can have them take on.

Linus is only tangentially interested in tech videos at this point, he'll say it himself over and over again, he's made them all and given out all his tech tips. What has actually enjoyed for a while now; the larp of being a 'real company' as he likes to say, is just the access to a captive pool of capable people he can direct to do things. "Go figure this out, go do this, go build me this, go buy me this, etc." as well as the small amount of outsized influence he has beyond that due to the size of his viewerbase.

He gets to experience those aspects of a rich person's reality, without having anywhere near that level of wealth. Which is why I; and so many others, give him shit for not selling for $100M a couple years ago, attaining more permanent access to the resources necessary to keep himself entertained.

And speaking of those total chads, this was their latest video yesterday... 26 minutes of dumping on price gouging on videocards by partner companies (primarily asus) by either just jacking the price up 20-30+% or bundling them with $3000+ of marked up peripherals nobody wants.
That "Bukcet of ROG" gave me a LTG vision. He's as close to a real life Uncle Ruckus we can get, and instead of a bucket of crabs dragging niggas down, it'd be a bucket of rogs.
*for anyone unaware, LTG's personal pet name for niggers is "Rog," as in Balrog, the black boxer from Street Fighter.

You can take the melting GPU 5090 drama as an example, every tech youtuber did a video about it, Linus with his multi million Labs still hasn't published a single video about the cables melting. LTT nowadays is a vanity youtube channel only
Even Jayz2Cents did some 12VHPWR testing, and that channel is pretty much just some guys in a garage building water cooled computers and seeing how many frames of Tomb Raider they can do.

He is retarded for not selling. If you see all the larger channels that got VC funding and talents eventually left, the channel would follow the same path. The channel is for better or worse, him, and after a probable timed non compete he could just make another channel like he did before with NCIX.

Honestly, not really. Linus uses raw 8k video and transcodes to 4k60, in order to scrub that stuff at a reasonable rate he more or less needs Mac Studios. And that's if the files are local to the device. He insists on using a SAN and never grabbing b-roll from already ingested video, which means he also needs a 40Gb network in order for them to scrub reasonably well.

Linus does need these overspecced workstations, because Linus insists on working in a way even professional film studios would consider over the top. If a rational person ran LTT, it wouldn't be so strapped for cash they can't afford to risk alienating a handful of scummy sponsors over openly announcing that they made a mistake in promoting Honey.
People genuinely don't realize how intensive media production is on computers, it's above gaming and under Bitcoin mining.

It's also why apple has a near monopoly on corporate computers for this stuff. Making it easy to buy a necessary 10k computer that will be used enough to make it worth it.
On top of recording all the sloptent in 12 or 16k for "future proofing" as if they'll ever:
1. Be around that much longer.
2. Make people care to watch it again.
3. Bother to go back re-exporting project files
I'm unironically the target market for watching old tech reviews and guess what, I don't give a fuck if it's in 240p as long as I can clearly watch it. There's a reason phones kept increasing in display quality until 1440p then went back down to 1080p. In general that's the quality we're all fine with. Most people are watching stuff in standard definition and don't realize it. I straight up found out recently one of my favorite TV shows from the 2000s was in HD and only now have I watched it and it looks fucking amazing. And if say 99% of people have never watched HD content enough to where it is the norm yet.

if Linus was just bullshitting us so he can convince sponsors to pay out the ass it would be one thing but overall it's a waste of time especially if you're just going to upload to YouTube.

there's no high bitrate Linus site where I can watch these episodes in their original quality.

Beyond that the streaming vs download and watch quality is so obscene that linus could just have 4k download links to files and it would be better than streaming 16k when that becomes viable.

Linus is the prime example of "harder, not smarter"

There's a reason phones kept increasing in display quality until 1440p then went back down to 1080p

The reason for that is the physical size of your screen.
A phone is always going to be made to fit in your pocket and at that size, past a certain pixel density you can't tell a difference.

So at that point all a higher resolution does is drain your battery.

Most people are watching stuff in standard definition and don't realize it.
Normies still forget that fidelity and image clarity are more important than raw resolution. But they just see higher number and think "higher number more better!" without even knowing about compression types, codecs, bitrate, etc
Powerlevel but while torrenting I picked up an old rip of the original Incredible Hulk series from 1978. In 480p divx, still looks great even on a older 1080p tv and modern 2160p one too.

And we've pretty much hit that point for all sane consumer devices. 4k makes sense for the peak of home theater, 1440p makes sense for large computer displays, 1080p is just fine for everything else. Where most monitors lack these days is in color quality - not just accuracy, but vibrancy. And even then, the higher end has it covered just fine.

Yup, but you'll still see people with an 8k 60+inch home theater setup streaming fucking netflix to it and pretending like it looks so much better. But fools and their money are the name of the game.

Genuinely, normies will never fucking understand this. The Nintendo 3DS outputs at something around 480p on the top screen, yet some of the later games in its cycle genuinely look amazing compared to "HD" 7th-gen consoles and even some of the earlier cycle 8th gen console games, but because the 3DS has the lower number, they'll gaslight themselves into thinking it looks worse.

Are there any good tech YouTubers?

Don’t say GaymersNexus.
g approved tech channels.jpg

Watched about half of this slop before clicking off. People actually subscribe for this? Some guy using reddit as a bar of what people generally think?

The GamersNexus glazing will continue until morale improves.

What have the 2 tech (I use the term loosely for linus) channels uploaded today?

Longhaired chad does incredibly autistic video on fake frames:

Gayfacesoytips does clickbait garbage video on latest Apple slop:

Thank you, Youtube, for letting me get the link to Linus's lameass videos without actually clicking them.
Loonus finally put up a 5070 ti video yesterday, less than 12 minutes long. The low-effort video of reacting to chinese gaming setups was almost twice as long.
