Right? God forbid fewer people can afford to blow that kind of money on a costume- or worse, people have to wait longer to get their costume that they just blew $500 on for just the dress alone. Those spoiled little brats should realize how fortunate they are to be able to even spend that kind of money frivolously in the first place while many towns and countries are plunged into generation-defining poverty and crisis. Just point that out in nicer phrasing to a group of them and watch them try to bite your ass while doing mental gymnastics like a pack of starved circus dogs. The pandemic and current economy has not been kind to the Lolitas. On some old forums and groups I used to be in ita filled with a lot of artists whining about how nobody will buy their custom made $300 gowns and that they can't buy their brand name items from Japan without a long wait.
The coof cutting into most peoples' ability to have costly hobbies sucks and everything, but lolitas have been acting so bizarre about it. You'd think that a situation like this would make them reflect on various aspects of their spoiled princess hobby with some self awareness, but it's had a 100% opposite effect from what I've witnessed and they've just gotten worse about it. The ones I've seen have mostly just been acting more spoiled, more entitled and more self-righteous than ever. Judging by how many of them spend daddybucks, college loans and NEETbux on lolita, it's as though the more they need to stay away from the expensive facade, the harder they lean into it.
