  • BTB has been around for a while and a lot of the weird spiteful and hateful secrets posted there are considered autistic even by /cgl/ standards (and they're super catty). In no way does it accurately reflect how the vast majority of lolitas think or behave. There's a VERY good chance a lot of the secrets posted to BTB are made only to trick people and stir up drama, so if you believe everything you read you're being trolled in the easiest way imaginable. There's some real drama in there, but if you use it as a baseline for lolita behavior you're just falling for an ocean of bait.
  • The muslim hate isn't nearly as big as implied. The biggest hate I've seen for muslim lolitas is not because they're muslim, but because some are converts for the sake of being tumblr popular. Tumblr loves their muslim and POC lolitas. You can look like shit and they'll still eat your selfies up. Other than that the muslim hate isn't even about being muslim, it's the things they do because they're muslim like wearing jeans under a jsk for modesty or wearing sneakers for the same reason. Sometimes people on cgl just say they hate muslims to start a fight because they know it'll offend someone.
  • Non-brand hate is very minor and "brandwhores" are boogeymen that newbies and itas have made up to excuse why they aren't considered stylisyh. Coord only gets 3 notes because your shoes are mismatched payless flats and you aren't wearing a blouse so we can see your bra straps? No, CLEARLY that's because you're being hated on by brndwhores, it's not because you look like hot garbage.
  • No one thinks "brolita" is a bad word. Maybe some people on tumblr whine about it because it's putting a man twist on a word, but that's all. It's a commonly accepted term for men who dress in lolita.
  • A big hot button is the replica debate. I don't give much of a shit to the replicas=stealing from brand arguments, but it's common knowledge that replicas are made from inferior fabric, aren't cut to be as flattering, and have shitty lace. A big problem (no pun intended) with replicas is also that lots of girls only go for replicas because they're too fat for brand yet the replicators don't adjust their pattern sizes well. They just cut the fabric wider and don't tailor it well so it looks like crap. Being fat and wearing a potato sack ill-fitted dress will not make you look good.
  • There are plenty of lolitas who are fat and are okay with fat girls. There are plenty of people online and on cgl who say they hate fat girls regardless just to start shit. The biggest problem with being fat and a lolita is wearing clothes that fit. There are many examples of girls not wearing bras and having their boobs shoved down almost their navel just to fit into a dress that's too small. Not to say fat girls can't be lolitas because nothing fits, it's just harder for fat girls to dress themselves and easier for them to look awful when they don't get it right.
Too many people here are falling for bait, don't know anything about real drama, and aren't bothering to fact check anything. There's some real, amazing lolita drama (ODIP, Rosarie, girl in chicago who faked cancer, brolita jenny, wonderfinch destroying Cat's Tea Party among other things) but apparently no one wanted to post about that. On the verge of being as autistic as I'm claiming a lot of people in this thread are acting, so many comments in this thread are blatant bullshit and idiot conjecture and I think this thread needs to be nuked and rebuilt. I'm a lolita and a drama whore but come on.

We need quality drama, not just a flood of people just saying "I'd beat my daughter if she looked like this lmao what a bunch of cunty weeaboos" like this is a youtube comment section.

You see, when someone doesn't have all the info, you can either research into it (if you have real interest on the matter) or just comment on it (state what you heard was true because you don't really give much of a shit about the subject). Can you guess in which of those 2 categories most of the members here fell into with this thread?. Yeah.
It's true that OP should had done a better research before making the thread so we could get the facts straight, but we return to the first dilemma where you'll doubt what you're reading and research it for yourself (just to make sure the info was correct) or just take whatever you read for granted.
Anyway, thank you for clearing those points up and now our knowledge about this subject (which is probably completely useless in the real word and even outside this site) is more complete.

I'm pretty sure she was the one who kept claiming illness for why she wasn't shipping things, then later she was caught wearing a dress that someone else paid for to an event. I think she was also the one who begged for money to ship people's things because she took shipping payments then didn't ship shit and spent the money on herself.
  • Winderfinch mods the EGL LJ community and the comm sales page. Assume basic moderator ego problems plus a weird lolita mindset. Every time someone gets banned (like rosarie) they start shit with her but Wonderfinch, in true lolcow fashion, always replies where she's being criticized. You'll see her in getoffcgl comments a lot. She thinks she knows everything about lolita and is just an all around cringey person.
  • Tiferet. I honestly don't know where she comes from (just a random lolcow?) but she's nuts. She cut apart Cat's Tea Party, a dress that goes for over $1,000 USD used these days, so she could expand it because it didn't fit. The result was awful. She still wore it to a brand tea party though. She likes showing up to brand tea parties looking like shit. Generally she just looks bad all the time and talks shit. She's dumb and posts really dumb stuff too.

  • Also you can go on Closet of Frills (or you can ask to join, it may be a closed group? I forget) and look at all the poorly dressed and angry girls who post there. These days most of the drama you're going to find is on tumblr or on facebook, mostly due to newbies and tumblr types starting shit because they can't handle not being the center of attention and because they refuse to put any effort into anything yet want to be called perfect.
  • John Leigh drama because he was harassing lolitas at Anime Matsuri recently. Minori, a popular japanese shironuri model, won't associate with any conventions involving him anymore. To show everyone he reformed he found a clipart diploma image and pasted text onto it saying he completed an online sexual harassment course. Like that would fool everyone. Also, I see lots of names and things you're mentioning that I don't really understand, not because I'm an idiot but simply because I'm not into lolitas and their stuff so I simply ignore this whole new world and its terms; so could you be so gentle to actually explain some of these characters (their importance, history, etc) that you're quoting, stores and maybe provide some sources?, because just like you said, we need to check the info before considering them a fact and since I'm a lazy ass and I don't really feel like spending a whole day googling this stuff, I rather have the expert guide me straight to what I need to know.

I'm not being mean, I'm just a bit confused about it. Everytime a thread is posted, I just read the first post, if it grabs my attention I'll keep reading the other posts and even reply myself, if it's something that I don't really care that much I simply leave and let the people in that thread talk about it. So what is your motivation to still be here?, point out that the original OP has a problem with those people and is trying to use us?, because if that's the reason I think it's up to every member to take that decision on their own, instead of taking the SJW approach and yell "This person is evil!" without some actual proof of what you're saying. I'm not white knighting here, just trying to make clear that finger pointing other members just because "yes", is not a good idea.
 
This is a thread with some of the old drama from when I was involved. We even had a wiki with entries about various people. It was very similar to this website. Most people didn't really post in the drama hotbed that was EGL, we just observed & laughed at them in our own communities.

Also @tblt one of the old mods on EGL used to cut up $500 IW dresses to fit and then try to resell them with no mention that she had 'reworked' them. I can't remember her name off the top of my head. This was like 10 years ago when the only brands you could really get hold of without going to Japan were AP, IW, BTSSB and Bodyline (which was 'unacceptable') and second hand sales were very popular.

I agree with what you're saying, but there's not much point in debating about it. I posted early on why the "lolitas hate muslims" thing was bullshit but a few pages later people started dissecting why lolitas hate muslims all over again. Pointing out the many inaccuracies in this thread is unfunny and no one cares. It's a lolcow thread, not a "factual information about lolita" thread.
I had the same thought you do, that there's a pretty good amount of recent lolita drama with a lot of depth to it. But without context, it's just not very interesting to people outside of the fashion. I don't see it really growing outside of "lol, lolitas are mean and look stupid." Almost all of the drama discussed here is literally over a decade old. All the good drama kinda needs context. Lolitas aren't going to come here, and people are going to get tired of secret after secret about fatty-chans.

I disagree with twilight that Jash is lashing out and looking for a personal army. She's made it clear many times not to attack lolitas and that it's not so much worse than other communities, just different. She does have a pretty poor impression of lolita, if her friends are so consumed by it that they're turning into salt blocks that's really on them. I mean I've been part of the community for years now and I don't experience half of what people are claiming and it's not like I hide myself or anything.

When I was active EGL had around 3000 people, there was probably about 10 Pixyteri tier girls who did and said silly things.
Also I think what has happened in this thread so far is a good indicator of how quickly an EGL post can devolve, add in another 50 posters and very little moderation until things completely explode.

I can tell you about things but you have to actually say what parts you don't understand. There are a bunch of links to proof in there already. I can provide more probably though, depending on what the thing is.
Though I don't really see a point in trying anymore seeing that all people want to do in this thread is call lolita a fetish and say they look stupid rather than actually talk about drama. I mean look at the 2 posts under yours. This thread is a sinking ship.

I liked it as a hobby, and still do in some aspects. With most of my hobbies they're for me and me alone to enjoy what I like, and no one elses. It's just fun to read others takes on the particular hobby and see how butthurt others get over who is doing what... Despite what others say, every hobby has a bad side.

As for the sexiness, some girls do and some girls don't. It depends on whatever they want. There were some loli-inspired fetishism in some mag spread like... 10 years or so ago that ruffled feathers, but... In most of the communities I lurked, girls were afraid that it would look even worse for them due to shielding from people who only know Lolita, the book or movie.

OK, here's some questions:
The whole Marie scamming shenanigans, she's is still in business (or at least has a webpage up) but what is the lolita community doing about it?, I'm guessing that "EGL comm sales" is one of the most important Lolitas journal and they made that comment about her, but what are the other communities or lolitas doing about those scamming shits?. Is there a forum or somewhere else where we can see how their victims try to bash her or something?.
What is Rosarie up to nowdays?, no word of her or other lolitas calling for her head?.
Can we have see some of the Tiferet posts?, she looks to have a Tumblrina attitude (fat and proud) and that can only mean SPERGING FUN.
So Closet of Frills is like the crab bucket for lolitas who can't get along?, now THAT place would be a great start to see lolita drama in its pure form.
I may have missed it but, what is a shironuri model and what's her importance in the lolita community?.

EGL comm sales is a livejournal sales community where you can buy and sell lolita items, usually paying through paypal. They've had a reputation of inconsistent moderating and are often reluctant to ban even the most blatant scammers, such as Marie. Of course, they can only control what happens on livejournal, so for people who do their business offsite, I'd assume you'd either have to know about her by reputation, check the EGL sale comm, or have seen someone else post about her.

Seeing as she's now doing business through her own webstore and lacemaket, I'm not sure if newbies will find out that she's extremely unreliable and has previously threatened to sue a customer over a negative review.

I'm pretty confident /cgl/ archives are the best place for general reaction/drama. Here's a thread that has info about that drama, with an okay summary at the top.
