Answer: psypost is a pop-science outlet that routinely misrepresents science, particularly by using headlines (you know, that thing most Redditors only read) that vastly overstate and distort generally limited (some mix of small correlation, multiple possible interpretations of similar or better plausibility that the sweeping one presented, unvalidated measures/operationalizations, lack of generalizability, treating qualitative findings as conclusive/evidence, and just questionable methodology), often inserting current event significance where there is none in the findings (more on that in a second). Basically every thread off one of its postings is dominated by posts detailing how the headline has nothing to do with the research and the research itself is fundamentally flawed and not representative of most similar studies. It also tends to dominate the front page while direct postings of the journal articles and more legit scientific publications get no traction.
Mvea is a mod for r/askscience, and absolutely spams psypost articles, specifically ones that make sweeping claims about how conservatives/Republicans are bad (I was going to say psypost tends to do this, but it may just be that only the ones that do are posted, although the frequency at which Mvea is able to post them does suggest a significant output of them). Additionally, his posts of these articles are often graveyards of [deleted]/[removed], with highly-upvoted posts that went to the original journal articles and explained all the ways they don't support the psypost headline invariably being among the ones done in. As such, there's a widespread belief that Mvea is going through and disappearing all dissent and evidence that undermines the agenda of his posts.

His youth is one of the most fascinating aspects and it's unfortunate that there's no catalog outside of a few things. I'd love to know:

- How much did schizofrenia impact him? IIRC, schizofrenia is more prevalent in men and tends to blossom when they're in their 20s.

- However, his autism was definitely there. What were his autistic fixations? His atheism mooing was there after high school, but was it always about that and finding a girlfriend?

- Was his thought pattern the same? Did he get stuck in the same loops but on different things?

- And the one that I definitely think played major role in his lolcowdom, his weed consumption. I'm indifferent as far as partaking the devil's lettuce, but the one demographic that could get seriously fucked up by it are those with a propensity for mental disorder. I'd say it was the thing that pushed him over just enough to open the crazy floodgates and cause his first breakdown and trip to the mental hospital. He was always stupider than rocks and incapable of interacting with people normally, and there are hints that he lost his shit a few times and got crazy and violent at times, just not quite to the point of getting arrested or committed, but at the time he had his first cray cray vacay at the mental hospital he had been fired, was living on very thin ice with cyril in a situation that was already building resentment cause of his bizarre expectations for shit that never happened and was by his own admission smoking as much weed and drinking as much as he could whenever he could, and I suspect that was enough to push him over just enough to cause his first real breakdown. As he'd just gotten back with his parents and i'd say there had to have been some ground rules and demands lucas didn't like that pushed him to smoke a little too much and get a little too angry one day and that was it. Then, lucas being lucas refused to ever admit he actually has a problem, refused to cooperate with therapy, so they doped him up to the gills to the point he was shitting himself, pissing in bushes and by his own admission didn't know if everything going on around him was real or everybody were dwarves and angels and the only thing he could do was sign his name, utter a few coherent words and come when you called him if there was food involved. They doped him up like that until what 2003 or so until he was stable enough to function in a group home with supervision, which led to his famous burning his stuff in the parking lot incident after weening himself off the drugs, which got him kicked out and as he still thinks he doesn't actually have any problems he doesn't cooperate with therapy when he isn't forced to so he's just gotten progressively worse. It probably would have happened eventually anyway as lucas's mental state has always been questionable at best, but i'd say the weed with the stress he was under at the time combined was the straw that broke the camels back
