There’s a few other factors too, but yeah. I know a couple people who have a similar diagnosis and they are fully functioning people, most of them have relationships and jobs (one of them is even in his late 30s and dating a 25 year old!). The real missing piece seems to be being absolutely treatment resistant. All those functional people are on some pretty heavy duty medication and in some pretty intense therapy.
Was not aware of this. This guy is a ticking time bomb for some sort of sexual crime involving a young girl. For many years now AFAIK he has been preoccupied with the same 3 or 4 topics, young girls/women being his most prominent obsession. Hate to say it but the longer he’s kept on the streets the more likely he’s going to hurt someone. I feel the only solution to the Wern question is loony bin for life or chemical castration. There’s just 0% chance he’ll ever become a stable, normal individual, and as he gets older and his looks continue to deteriorate he’s going to get more and more desperate to fulfill his fantasy for a girl under 25 to have sex with him.
Good for them, just one of those diagnoses alone guarantees a shitty life but both of them at once is really, really rough. I think an important factor in cases like these is how self-aware and cognizant of social norms these people are able to be. obviously not something that is easy to accomplish when you have delusions of grandeur and constant hallucinations
Lucas is one of many with mental illness that when they're on medication, they'll still never be a normal functional member of society, but they're harmless. Give them their SSI and keep them away from people. An area where the system is terrible are care managers that are keeping people like Lucas on medication and seeing psychs/therapists as they should. Lucas spamming Youtube videos up like this just shouldn't be happening with nobody noticing.
That’ll be the treatment compliance. It’s like any other mental illness, you can’t fix your problem if you won’t acknowledge you have one. A lot of the time that takes hitting a wall in a very big way. Sometimes once, sometimes multiple times. Some people get tired of that and put in the work, and some people (like our boy Luke) never do.
I don't think chemical castration would be much help. We know he jerks it to jailbait porn, but his obsession is deeper than pure arousal. Although castration could lead to an interesting spin on his impregnation/fertility angle.
We see similar delusional, self-centered patterns with other NPD's like Chris. Chris has taken his egotistical fantasies and desires that have been milling around his mind during years of illness, thrown them through his ASD and Schizophrenia amplifiers, and made these fantasies manifest, at least in his own head. While most people focus on the utter insanity of Chris's delusions and don't look for much of an explanation in regards to why he has them (I don't blame anyone for this lol), at the end of the day they stem from a function of his ego, which is to protect any semblance of sanity he has left. Basically "My life is fucking hell and I'm going to die alone and unloved, but everything will be okay as soon as the merge happens and I become ruler of the world!"
