It would be so infuriating for people who bust their ass working full time and living out of their car because they don’t make a living wage to see this smug bum lying in a hotel bed lecture them on how they need to rise up. Those workers know it’s rugged capitalism for them and socialism for the rich. Lucas just has no lived experience of what it’s like trying to survive under capitalism in the gig economy or at an Amazon warehouse or in any job. You are right that he is actually doing pretty well under capitalism all things considered. In a communist society it is actually illegal to not work, there is a famous quote from Lenin, “Those who do not work, shall not eat.” In the USSR you would get sent to jail if you didn’t have a job for over a month, in Lucas’s case well he’d be in psychiatric care probably. In a worker’s state you kinda have to work or at least pretend to.

It’s unironically an interesting philosophical question. Chimpanzees fight over their territory and carry out vicious retribution on their enemies. Is that because they have a primitive ego or is it just a display of dominance for survival that they feel the need to cannibalize their enemies, kill their babies and take their females? I guess ego is attached to survival in a way and greed is ego driven because with greed you are taking more than you need and still wanting more. There is a limit in the animal kingdom to this because there is a certain point where taking more territory is just over extending beyond your limits and there is no need for that when it is the neighbouring squad of monkeys stealing your food that is the problem.
