Thing is, on top of the fact he is now in comfortable isolation, I am guessing he is also stone cold sober, i.e. no weed or alcohol. So the voices are most likely louder than ever with nothing but soda and food to tamp them down.

The crazy affectation he is putting on is like a cross between a latin gang banger and Count Chocula. His rants are becoming more disjointed. I loved the “there should only be one cola” rant where he pauses and sips a coca cola as if to say “And that one cola should be Coca~Cola!”. It was like he was doing product placement. Way to mix your rant about the communist revolution with subtle capitalist advertising there Lucas! Not to mention that you have diabetes, so drinking soft drinks is probably not the best idea.

There was a homeless guy sleeping on a park bench and ranting all day in the park about communism at the start of the episode that everyone said was a crackpot, and then when they ended up in a world where the US was a communist dictatorship that same crazy hobo was the head commissar of the US and ranting like a loon on US tv about the revolution constantly the same way the other version of him did in the park

What’s really frustrating too is Lucas’s inability to grasp nuance. His numbers may be correct but he has no understanding of what people would or wouldn’t have liked about living under socialism when there are dozens of people who can tell you on YouTube like Ushanka Show with lived experience. Everyone knows the Communist project of the 20th century is over. I’m going to avoid polisperging too much but the breakup of the Soviet Union is a really fascinating deep dive and worth reading into. What Lucas doesn’t realize is people responding to these surveys probably have a good response because a) they were younger back then and b) a sense of national pride in the accomplishments of the USSR. Also the Red Army attempted a coup against Gorbachev and he did not want a civil war with nuclear weapons in the country so even if people wanted the USSR to remain he felt it was too dangerous to take the risk and dissolved the USSR to avoid a potential bloodbath. The original plan was to liberalize the country with free speech, an end to censorship, travel restrictions and market reforms as well as allowing competing ideas into the system to contend with Communist Party rule but the hardliners really didn’t want that.

The only thing I noticed in one of his latest videos was him ranting about dating sites (that he is seeing advertised on TV) still being allowed to operate during covid. The way he bitched about it seemed a little different, like his rant was coming from the standpoint of him having covid and how dare they advertise dating when he is currently in quarrantine.

It could be my imagination though. But I stopped it and watched it again because I felt like if he was trying to keep it secret he was in some style giving it away with how that rant came off.

Then again there is the fact that maybe I’ve been watching too many Wern vids.
