I am wondering the same thing, I’m fascinated by the USSR it’s institutions and history all of the things the Soviet Empire has left behind in its former satellite countries. It’s crazy to think for example that there are abandoned aerospace plants in Kazakhstan with unfinished space shuttles in them. It was after all the second largest economy on earth at a time. People feel affinity for it as they were once young when the USSR was a global superpower to be reckoned with. There is nostalgia for these times so people venerate and rehabilitate leaders like Stalin for winning the war and putting the Soviet Union on the world stage. Winston Churchill was also a bad guy responsible for cutting off food to Bengal which resulted in a mass famine, he coldly remarked that they just breed like rabbits. He is still regarded as one of the greatest British people of all time so I see the attraction to these kinds of historical figures because they are sanitized for their accomplishments and their brutality is put aside. In Russia today Stalin is being rehabilitated for his victory enough time has passed for some of his worst crimes to be overlooked.you gotta wonder where Lucas is getting his political opinions from at this point. because even the farthest left people online who constantly bash capitalism dont say they "love Stalin" like lucas does.
