Horrorcow Lucas Werner - A man of Spokane, Washington who is obsessed with millennial and Gen Z chicks

Starting at the 1:30 mark:
He likes the pills he's taking now - Abilify and Depakote. They are helping him without getting rid of his creativity.

There is a story in this polypharmacy. I’ve already powerleveled on antipsychotics and abilify, but the takeaway of it was that abilify hampers transmission of dopamine (D2) and serotonin (A1) to pacify someone’s brain some respite from delusional thinking (e.g. schizophrenia) and behavior brought about by intrusive thinking (e.g. obsessive–compulsive disorder).

Funny enough depakote was originally used as an industrial solvent, but a happy accident during some research showed its promise as an anticonvulsant. It works on an entirely different chemical mechanism in the brain than antipsychotics, namely the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid or simply GABA. It basically slows down the rate of fire of those neurons inside your dome and partially your nervous system.

So what's the story? Well depakote is usually reserved for people who suffer from certain kinds of seizures and migraines, but it also has an application to treat acute mania. It isn’t approved by the FDA for long term maintenance for bi-polar disorder, there was a short period of time when it was a very popular off-label treatment for bi-polar, but it didn’t live up to expectations. When it comes to the byzantine nightmare that is Medicade, offlabel use of anticonvulsants adds another layer of paperwork for every prescription of it. Enough of a bother to motivate physicians to seek other alternatives first.

This tells me that during his inpatient stay Lucas was not able to calm the fuck down and reign in his bullshit. He must have been a much bigger annoyance to staff than I previously thought and to make matters worse, even this medicated he still *has* to film teenagers getting on public transportation surreptitiously. Somehow, through all that pharmaceutical haze intended to slow his brain down, he still found the urge to prowl public transportation. That gave me pause.

An hour and twenty minutes of him boring the everlasting piss out of everyone talking about how to be an unsuccessful dullard.

I'm saying that as someone who enjoys tabletop gaming in general. If my first exposure to anything related to any sort of tabletop or board gaming was Lucas I would almost instantly hate everything about it, he manages to make it that boring to listen to.

Bets on whether he starts calling people dullards in the next week?

Anyway the video is fucking rendering and I'll probably end up going to sleep long before it's done so it'll likely be up in the morning.

The funniest part about Depakote is that one of the rarer side effects is spontaneous lactation in men.

I cannot properly express how difficult I'd find it to breathe through the laughter if Lucas the Cow started lactating because of his meds.

(Powerlevel: 20 some years ago I had a shrink who tried to put me on a combo of a high dose of lithium, depakote, AND wellbutrin at once because he thought ADHD was a myth and just misdiagnosed bipolar 1. I distinctly remember seeing the lactation side effect on the printed brochure and asking him what the actual fuck and got, "Oh that's really rare and not that big of a deal" which, fair, it was just such a bizarre side effect mixed in with things like 'acute liver failure' that it stuck out.)

One thing I find fascinating about Lucas is how everything he touches turns to boring, pedantic, cringeworthy shit.

I’m in the “Lucas probably has some form of autism” camp, and board games are clearly one of his special interests. Some of my best friends, coworkers, employees, etc have been autistic, so I’ve been there for infodumps about special interest before. With them it was engaging because they were passionate and you could tell they were excited, it was fun; but Lucas somehow sucks any kind of enjoyment out of even things literally made to be fun and interesting.

I mean I own probably a couple dozen board games (though the vast majority were gifts), and one in particular (chess) is a huge part of my daily life…

But listening to Lucas prattle on makes me want to burn every single game in a five mile radius out of sheer boredom.

The best part is that Lucas defines himself as a “board game designer,” it is a core quality in his eyes. Imagine being so ineffectual that you do one thing you see as a defining feature so poorly as to bore what should be your intended audience to tears.

At the same time, though, that is one thing that makes Lucas so watchable: he is the bottom of the barrel when it comes to literally everything. He has no redeeming qualities, no talents or skills. You can pull up his channel and just take comfort in the fact you get to watch him fail again.

Though I'm in the same camp, I have to disagree because his interest in boardgames comes and goes. It's something he can fall back on to pretend to be good at when he's not "in college."

I don't think Lucas is autistic but even if he is i'd agree that he isn't into board games. Way back during the first board game saga I recall somebody mentioning that Lucas was probably told to get a hobby and was even told he might be able to meet women who share his hobby. For whatever reason he went with board games and now that's his attraction sign.

"All I have to do is set up the board game in the student union and wait for gen z baes to come play" though oddly enough nobody wanted to sit down with the creepy old guy for a round of Battleship

Bill Maher is such a dumb shit and the last thing the US needs is another TV show moron sitting in the White House.
But... But Bill Maher is a silverhair telomerase king who rants against the stupid Sky Daddy who wont give Lucas any teen poon!

Boardgame Wern is worst Wern
Lucas droning on aimlessly is worst Wern.
But seeing the crackpot board game ideas that absolutely nobody would ever play that come from the dark pits of Lucas's head are quite hilarious, if not terrifying.

Faux ultra liberal Lucas is the worst for me. I don't care about politics, and it's such obvious diarrhea spewing from his mouth trying to appeal to a zoomer bae.

At least with board games, Lucas has completed some of them. I won't shit on someone for their hobby and taking it seriously enough, even if the games are impossible to understand and Lucas' mental illness run amok.

Does anyone have any idea whether any of his games are actually playable? I know his descriptions of them make them seem unplayable nonsense, but is that actually so?

The only part of Boardgame Wern that interests me is his subject matter. Lucas can't help but channel his fixations into his games. He believes, for example, that there is an audience for a board game about hosting a dance for teen girls to meet and court Gen X men, and that the mechanics of supplying the dance with food and drink is compelling. Dance of the Telomeres? Yes.

Lucas cannot present his design concepts intelligibly. This doesn't bode well for the concepts themselves. Yet, as the hoary old cliche goes: the proof of the pudding is in the eating. Sadly, Lucas comes up with games that will never be played, creates incomprehensible mechanics for imaginary contests that no one is interested in, and the playability of his games will remain a mystery.

Cafeteria Uprising has a tome of instructions and Lucas made videos on it which do not help at all.
