For context, Newcastle is a traditionally working-class area that was economically devastated in the 1980's, after a major coal miners strike led to a mass closure of the mines. These mines were a major source of employment in the area for tens of thousands of people, many of whom never worked again after their closure. A bit like Cog.

Football ('soccer' to the nationally impaired) has been an outlet for the English working classes for well over a hundred years at this point, becoming an enormous part of the community in times of hardship. Newcastle is one of the clearer illustrations of this, where incredibly wealthy footballers are celebrated as local heroes by a population with 42% child poverty. They'll gladly fork out all their benefits to engage in the spectacle and spend the rest of the week as penniless and desperate as Cog.

Despite the relative deprivation of the area, the Toon Army follow their club like a localized orthodox faith, showing up to away games in the tens of thousands and supporting the squad of foreign millionaires as if they were their own flesh and blood. For 90-odd minutes a week, they escape their Cog-like destitution and poverty by living vicariously in the boots of these exalted athletes kicking an inflated piece of rubber around a field.

The point I'm trying to make is that banning this woman from attending games is like excommunicating an Amish. Now that the link between her and her club has been severed, she probably has as little to keep her going as Cog. Maybe slightly more, but that's still terrible.

This is inhumane. Nobody deserves the Cog Life.

It is considerable less creepy then the amount of half naked sleeping photos of him as a tween sleeping in her bed she posts almost daily.

Yes this is anime shit, but more importantly and broadly, it shows how you don't own anything digitally, even if you pay for it. Basically the main part in contention was when you bought a Funimation blu ray, you got a code that let you download it to a digital library. Now that Funimation is dead and folding in with Crunchyroll, that service is gone. I think it says a lot about corporate greed and squeezing blood from a stone more than anything
