I have eaten my Beach Cliff sardines in mustard sauce.
The mustard sauce added no flavor, which is strange. You'd expects something literally tinned in mustard, visibly yellow, would taste like mustard, but no.
Sardine flavor is not the best. It is mildly fishy but it doesn't have a very strong taste either.
What I did really like about this brand is that there are no bones?? I thought every tin of sardines had bones. The biting into bones thing was why I never tried sardines twice. The tin doesn't even advertise itself as boneless. I am very confused.
for the record they do actually have bones but the cooking and canning process turns them to mush pretty much so you can barely notice them when chowing down.
Have you tried something called smoked kippers? They will have a very strong taste which I do quite love but make sure no one else is in the room with you when you open the can as the odour is...powerful. They might be up your alley if the sardine is too mild for you.
Very good though! I grew up eating them and still have at least a can a week as a healthy snack.
