I just love anime focused to a mature audience. Ghost in the shell (even though half of it doesn't make sense), Blue Sub 6 (it has a cool fucking end sequence), Black Lagoon (don't get me started on the Russian mob bitch watching vids of cp and trafficking to find the killers), and old schools best school MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM 08th MS TEAM. But I am a fucking nerd who really loves the mobile suit genre.
There was a series called 'Full Metal Panic' that was panty slop but it had such a great opportunity to be great in the MS genre. I love it only because I look at it through a different lens than what it's filmed through.

I don't think I can watch anything modern because there is no story and it's only panty\goon slop.
