I played MTG at casual level from 1998 and tournament level from 2003-4, when I went off to university and discovered beer and girls. It was indeed metal af. From the Vikings and black metal style Ice Age block, the genuinely alien Tempest block, the sheer awesome technopunk of Urza Block and Invasion Block, the Mad Max with Fireballs of Odyssey and Onslaught blocks, and the gleaming, indescribable wonder that was Mirrodin block, it was all metal af. Any card art, even that by Rebecca Guay, from that period could have made do as a heavy metal album cover.

These are people who, fucking 100% of the time, are not fans, do not care about the game in question, its lore, or authorial intent. They care about getting one more platform to virtue signal from. If they can get WOTC to capitulate to their demands (already happening), they will try to get more, and then still more. It will not end until the infestation is successfully fought off by the customer-base, or the infestation does to MTG what similar shitheads did to Marvel comics.

Wizards of the Coast does have presence on Tumblr, and also openly came out as being pro-LGBT, i.e. that WotC flag with the LGBT colors at a Seattle event. They also had a trans character in one of the past sets.

Alesha, Who Smiles At Death. It was a shit card in Fate Reforged set, and sells for less money (.16 average) than a monk token (.30 average). Cue SJWs getting upset because it wasn't a planeswalkers (one of the most powerful cards in the current series), or a staple in winning decks.
