And i have a friend working on something pretty unique and don't even get him started on the copycats.

At least something like Sorcery is experimenting with card games and making a game targeted for an older audience without the neutered art of most card games, and even someone like Reynad is making his own auto battler that looks dopy but isn't really a card game despite starting as one, because at some point his team realized that you don't have to restrict yourself to cards in a digital medium.

The most annoying thing about working on a project is seeing someone release something that has a similar element. It's usually not enough to completely mess things up, but it's a pain when you now have to worry about being compared to them.

I just always find it funny how Western games try to figure out how to shove as many obese crippled black women with dyed hair into their game, while Eastern games just don't give a shit and throw in a bunch of waifus along with tits and ass. God forbid women look sexy.

ayo, holup.... man I had really thought MODERN CATS was great. DARKCATS/REDCATS was even better...

but JUNKCATS is proving to be the greatest tribal deck I have ever played:

it does everything our old favorite modern staple JUNK does while still getting those sick turn 3 wide, fat CATS. Yes it loses disruption and a big beefy tarmogoyf body...this one can get bigger and wider. What a absolute Behemoth this deck is, like JUNK it is certainly not a consistent tier1 performer but I have smashed so many of those top decks piloted by great players with my fuckign cats and it feels so good. Regular junk(with Dauthi Voidwalkers/Tourach/Kayas Guile and a grist and liliana or two) is my main deck and favorite now in modern even though it also isn't T1...but this is coming in pretty damn close. Beating someone with cats is special.

Yeah, I have learned since my post that Collected Company is probably the only acceptable 4cmc spell in any modern format low cmc critter deck...the only place the Chariot works is in junkcats and even then coco is probably mathematically better. I built a RWB version with the mardu 4cmc double striker/mutate cat and its not as good as the updated deck with coco, but the extra removal is nice for facing midrange decks.

Plus he looks cool . the dilemma of the non spike

I still build decks with the mentality of a 1997 MTG player sometimes, especially since I just got back into the game. Trust me I know none of the crap I am building right now is anywhere near "competitive", I understand the basic principles but I have never been the most efficient player/builder. I just wanna try and make em work halfway decent yknow? that'll make me happy enough :]

I really do hope pioneer takes off, MH2 has pretty severely fucked modern's diversity up. MH1 had some problem cards but nothing on the scale of 2

I doubt MtG is savable in its current state, hopefully they change leadership to someone who recognizes that the franchise has more potential than being a children's card game with memes.

Eh, it'll be fine depending on what you use it for. The core concepts and sheer amount of diversity that exists, especially if you play janky cards, is enough to keep people interested who are sociable enough and use it as a hobby to chill over. The competitive circuits are certainly taking a shellacking, and I wouldn't be surprised if the munchkins who blow thousands every month on the thing start to burn out from constantly having to buy the newest, hottest thing so they can roll over new players at an LGS.

I hate a lot of the cards they've designed from newer sets, but no-one I play with feels any particular urge to throw the $40+ free counterspells into every blue EDH deck they run. Probably because none of us derive any sexual pleasure from steamrolling guys with prebuilts. Modern was kindof always on borrowed time - legacy and vintage will actually get the bans they need because those formats don't really move pack sales. Modern's going to enjoy playing MH2 the movie the game for a long, long, long time going forward: all because, as wizards repeatedly demonstrated, they couldn't grasp that you could turn any masters set into a hit by putting fetches into it.

lol yeah this happened to me when I was running a fun glass cannon GR Prowless deck with Dreadhorde Arcanist and Scale Up...dumped my entire hand to do lethal and the dude had a single swamp untapped. i knew it was coming but I did it anyway. It was fun, it made me smile. I love flip of the coin glass cannon decks
