I love A/B/U and have started collecting both Unlimited and Beta cards in basically any collection. I know most of them will never appreciate in value but I just love looking at the old cards

So much soul the old art styles, the lore behind the cards.

A/B/U autism aside where can I get recommendations for commanders? I haven’t found a good brew site and I wanna try some shit out that isn’t too common

My recomendation is to look at all the commanders that have partner and check EDHrec or Moxfield and see which pairing have the least decks. I do think we as a thread could possibly brainstorm some ideas depending on what you want out of a commander….

Really you can just scroll through EDHRec until you see something that grabs your attention.

My favorite Commander is Titania, Protector of Argoth.

where can I get recommendations for commanders
EDHREC though its not the be all end all. It's just a great tool. If you know the right verbage in Cockatrice you can filter for specific types of effects that you're after , but knowing what to search for, and all it's potential clunky variants can be a challenge if not impossible for someone who doesn't already know.

Here's one of my all time favorites that whenever I brought out turned heads. This was years ago though, maybe she became more popular since. Doubtful.

imagine bringing this deck to the pod with the last of us secret lair commanders.

What colors do you want to play and what style of gameplay do you like?
I’m not one for equipment like attaching a shit load of items to a commander seems boring
I like the themes of angels and vampires but I also like to be aggressive early lots of 1/1s for 1 kinda deal

I’m returning to the game after a long absence (I started in 2007 left in 09 came back for throne of eldrane and did a few pub commanders) I’m looking for semi affordable (100$ USD or under) and something medium difficulty (easy to learn hard to master kinda shit)

Commanders I have ran before
Najeela
Mono black
Mono red
I had a field of the dead deck don’t remember the commander

EDIT: I’m not super picky with colors I just like aggressive decks I ran a thorban of the red fell deck in standard and loved it something like this https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/torbran-red-deck-wins-arena/

There is this chick, she is pretty cheap on her own, is pretty aggressive since you are a token based deck and because you want different named tokens you can use the "second or third best" token generators from each Tribe.

This is in the Jeskai precon from Dragonstorm of Tarkir, I picked up the precon made it the Commander and modified it. Deceptively explosive for casual tables, snowballs hard. Probably the most fair "Storm" deck I've seen and I've had turns where I one shot people with Commander damage and have a nice army of Monks left after.

Caved and preordered the blight precon, why are they consistently making the jund precons the best ones?

Theme-wise, I'd say there's Kaalia of the Vast or Edgar Markov.

Kaalia lets you cheat out big Angels/Demons/Dragons early to get your offense going. Expense kinda depends on which big creatures you want. Can probably get away with any big stuff you have on hand, although it can be tough to even swing with her.

Edgar has an insane effect and lets you build up a big board easy. However, he himself is pretty pricy and even more of an obvious threat considering eminence. Can probably mostly get away with shoving in any vampires you got. Evelyn the Covetous is a decent alternative with a stealing subtheme who also enjoys plenty tokens, although she is less aggro and weaker. Probably not considered any less of threat though, people don't like getting their cards stolen.

Some others I can think of is Krenko who can certainly pump out tokens. Arabella is small stuff spam that I'd say could be aggro.

Same can be said for Edgar Markov as well.
Difference is, Edgar works from the command zone. You don't even need to cast him, most of the time. Deck works fine. And Kaalia decks are really dependant on Kaalia being there and doing her thing.

Does anyone know a site that tells you if a card has ever been functionally reprinted?

Like hey [card] is cool but I hate the way it looks, what other options exist?
