The OG Captain Price, one of the most badass of badasses in all of video game history.

I should also mention Shulk, he’s a cool nerd. Even though he’s a nerd, he’s not afraid to go on an insanely long quest to save his village (then the world) from a bunch of evil robots and eventually
become a god and recreate the world
. He’s bad in Smash, but fun to play as.

I like Totori from Atelier Totori. A lot of Atelier games have the problem of their main character being overly perfect after the first few gameplay hours, while Totori being a very weak person (especially in gameplay) is carried out throughout the game with the inferiority complex she has.

another JRPG main charecter i like is Yuri huyga

yuri.jpg

he comes off as an asshole at first, creeping on Alice (girl on the pic) and only protecting her beacuse a voice in his head is forcing him too. acting all cool and cocky like a typical shounon protagonist until you realizes
its all a façade. yuri is in fact scared shitless beacuse his about to have his soul eaten by the demons living inside him and there is nothing he can do about it. he talks big game but in fact just wants to run away and pray Alice is somehow the salvation he needs.

he gets a more upbeat attitude later in the game when he come in terms with himself. overall, i like him in both games

I’d go with these two because I can’t figure out why I always question everything and trust no one.

Shenmue III wasn’t as good as II, and J.C. is used unironically by people that think it’s fashionable to be a conspiracy theorist over ridiculous things that are not even conspiracy ridden
you also forget that jc's character is dry.
The Best Girl of best girls.

of course she is the best, keeps her mouth shut until Other M where she sounds like a AI killed her brains and took control, explains the lack of emotion and monotone of her statements.

still, for the list i can't really come up with one, i can give Garret a honorable mention because as much as he doesn't want to be in the conflict, he knows that trying to keep on the downlow might be the end of everything all things considered, also killed the woodsie man, that naturalist bitch, the builder is supposed to be ambiguous whether he exists or not.

CJ because it's goofy how he did rise from two bit gangster to legit biz nig and worked for FBI as a solo to a point of stealing a jet and dogfight no problem (3D world uses FBI instead of the FIB).

Brad Armstrong from Lisa: The Painful is an interesting character in that he's incredibly flawed, bordering on awful person. He's a drug addict and he's willing to fuck over the human race for his ironically selfish desires for personal redemption and to assuage his own guilt. But the game does a good job humanizing him; he tries to quit drugs for the sake of his adopted daughter and wants to shield her from the cruel outside world. His motivations are completely understandable from a surface level as well. It's just that Brad, like some real life people, can't succeed at changing himself for the better no matter how hard he tries.

He was such a goofball, and maintained an uninterested personality in the first game, only caring about his scoop and would go through hell and back to get it. All his attempts at sympathy fall flat not because he doesn't care, but because he's just so awkward.

He's also a CHAD in DR2 onward (let's pretend DR4 doesn't exist).

Wander from Shadow of the Colossus.

Regardless of whether or not what he was doing was right, you gotta admire the absolute determination and willpower he has to overcome everything thrown at him in order to bring his girlfriend back to life. He's not a hero or a villain, he's...human.
At least until the ending.

Then you have mai boi Zidane from Final Fantasy IX.

Dude is charismatic, mischievous, has a good sense of humor and a heart of gold. He's always willing to help those in need, for no reason because that's just how he is.

And might I say he is smooth as fuck?

He surprises Garnet by pretending to be gone and then revealing himself on stage right in front of her shouting "Bring my beloved Dagger to me!"

Some more of my autism, with bonus weeb sperging:

Phoenix Wright and Apollo Justice from the Ace Attorney series. I like their smartass sense of humor as well as how determined they are to win cases for their clients. They both have their low points though, especially in the game Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney. I didn't like what the writing did to Phoenix, and Apollo has to share the spotlight in his own game.

Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong. I love the DKC series, and the first game is my favorite. Plus, they're a gorilla and monkey team. What's not to like?

Estelle Bright from the Trails in the Sky games. I was afraid I was going to hate her when I first started playing them, but she actually has good development in game while still keeping her silly charm.

Little Mac from the Punch-Out!! series. He doesn't have much personality, but a manlet taking down huge, foreign assholes and Mike Tyson is pretty rad.

Ramza Beoulve
Ramza_Beoulve.jpg

I love the story of FFT and how a young naive noble ends up fighting the injustice of the world by renouncing everything except his morals. Is the quintessential good character in RPGs that even though the story should break his resolve it only enhance it.

Also Delita Hyral

From commoner to king, he singlehandedly brought about change to Ivalice, cementing his name in History. He did it all by forgoing his morals, contrary to Ramza he was broken by the events of the story and realized change only comes from force and will of oneself.

*sigh*

Why make your favorite player character/MC live with you?! Not to sound judgemental, but let the fictional character live their life instead of some redditor's exclusive onahole.
