It needs arc raider's success in order to break even, though. The 6 months delay must've hit hard financially.

Don't get me wrong, I think it will flop. Frankly, as a massive fan of the original trilogy I want it to flop.
This is definitely a streamer game. I can see most players picking it up because it looks visually interesting but unlike arc this looks like it will be entirely competitive with no friendly interaction between players, so most people over the age of 16 will drop it immediately.

This is the interesting thing. Even if Bungie somehow does the impossible and puts out a 10/10 on their second attempt, is there any significant momentum left behind the game?

After the unbelievable disaster that was the failed launch earlier this year do people even know Marathon is still intended to come out?

the maps are small and the enemies are retarded, so yea, its just going to be Destiny 2 pvp Sweatzone, with looting!

Not to mention that first person + really quick TTK rewards aggressive gameplay.
I wouldnt be surprised if they forgot to populate servers after players died, meaning the first few minutes of every match are effectively a Call of Duty round with the winning team getting access to everything in the map.

The insta kill shotgun i saw from the last playtest told me exactly what kind of game this is without having to play it.

well considering all the actual gunplay is just straight LIFTED from their other game, Destiny 2, its to be expected, the TTK's are probably the same, and with someone like me who has over 2k hours in Destiny, NO FUCKIN THANKS, never again, never a Bungie product.

I saw the gameplay footage and like being able to see the matrix code, I could tell instantly the bulky class had the exact, frame for frame, Titan punch, the Scoutrifle was exactly like a rapid fire scoutrifle, complete with same reload, aimdown sights animation, firing animation, and even fire-rate, it laid bare that this was a cheaply made game that used their other games assets to the upmost, meaning I can probably count exactly how many bullets it would take to kill and what ranges is a for sure shotgun kill ect, before ever playing it.

I feel like I'm going insane, people are acting as though the game looks miles different to what it used to be half a year ago, but it looks just as shitty as it did.

I mean
Everything is darker and they added actual skyboxes instead of grey gradients. The models and art itself is unchanged, they just finally decided on an atmosphere for the game.
It probably just isnt your thing visually and thats fine. I personally like the visuals but i think the gameplay is going to suck with how competitive-centric it looks.

The asset flipping from Destiny is crazy. The grapple is just strand from destiny but with a propeller instead of green strings. It's crazy how much the slop cycle of Destiny has rotted the products and culture of Destiny.

They truly are the origin of the Live Service Slop Model.

Devs go into details over the playable characters in the game.

as someone who cares alot about aesthetics and art style, color theory, and all that shit, the game is a fucking travesty, and it hasn't change din that regard.

Tons of talented people used all of their skills at peak potential.. to make this, all of it wasted as the director's vision was awful.

I really want to ask them, to sit them down, and ask why the playable characters look like grungy plastic runway models, why the guy character has giant dick sucking lips.. just a bunch of questions, but alas, we never get to ask faggots like these people why they do the things they do.

they'll just call you a bigot that doesn't understand art or color theory anyway.

I'm in the same boat. I really like this aesthetic, I just wish they'd used it on an actual Marathon game and not this tryhard PVP sweat shit that'll die within a year at best.

Here's a hot leak of an unrevealed runner, this one is clearly inspired by Macross/Robotech and mid 90's snowboarding fashion.

the "everything has the texture of plastic and is two opposing colors like purple and acid green" is certain a "look" but its so intentionally garish I can't cosign it

its close, but its just one step over and into "ugly" tier, I can tell tons of hard work and talented artists were put to work, and told specifically to make the colors and textures like they are, 120% effort into what is effectively Nerf colors.

See, that's just it... all the characters are just 3D printed Chinesium designed to be thrown away after use. But this is like the lowest-effort way of representing that, especially since half of them have uber-badass parts to them instead of their whole bodies being Chinesium.

I think jarring color palettes and designs are an effective tool for signaling a foreign setting to the player, in this case it being the distant future and the characters effectively being branded products. My issue is that this is a hero shooter and immersion will be shattered when the game comes out and the chick character has a cat ears cosmetic, signaling that we are indeed still in the 2020s and everything is anime-ified and gay.

In any case right now I'll literally prefer every game look like cruelty squad instead of "knockoff pixar hero shooter" or "hyperrealistic UE5 survival featuring Lumen and Nanite". I'm just so tired of it.
