The only thing it's doing it removing the smoke effect and that's an easy fix. Smoke blocks thermals.

Not the point, you should never have sightlines on spawns in an extraction shooter at your spawn, and preferably they should be tucked, because otherwise with one shot kill snipers, you can do like that video and merc people who haven't full loaded in and take all their loot.

This will curdle player retention like milk aging, no one will risk good shit if Thermal Scope Bois can take you out 2 seconds into match
But they don't. If you watch the videos you can see neither team is spawning in line of sight. One team spawns at the high ground and walks round a building. The other team is on the low ground and walks round a building. This is not spawn killing.

This was a large problem in Hunt. Spawns were really fucking close to each other and could lead to multi team spawn fights off the rip.

The maps in hunt are 1000 meters X 1000 Meters

The squares are all 100 meters by 100 meters so it could be less than 100 meters to a spawn, depending on things. It led to a lot of fuckery until they got their spawn algorithm figured out.

"Smoke blocks thermal" was a suggestion for a fix.
My bad for misunderstanding you. I thought you were suggesting that Smoke already blocked thermals.

It's less that the sniper itself is broken and more the thermal attached to it lets you see across the whole map, which allows for spawn camping the moment you spawn in. I'm sorry but I think that shouldn't be a thing in a game like this.
Getting my first thermal scope in BF6 was crazy. Suddenly I could get kills across the map and you dont get it til you've spent like 15 hours with a rifle. Either they should be available or removed, this random RNG 'luck' is idiotic.

They just need to be rare to find and not be something you can buy from the traders and it'd fix a lot of it, as well as not being able to see invisibility or through ability smoke, seeing through grenade smoke is fine.
 
They made this from the bones of Halo and Halo snipers would 1/2 shot you. CoD and CS just 1 shot you regardless. It's not new.

that's the only way they keep people in the game though, lock all the decent shit on the takes a ton of hours farming bracket, let it be tied to RNG so people can get "lucky" and skip it and then leave it to the players if they want to pursue that or not, while also selling that player rention graphs and shieet to shareholders.
 
You don't need the thermal scope to do that. And notice these clips are all 3 man teams on voice chat.

Not a new problem. Literally been around since Halo.
You'll notice that in games with large maps, snipers have pretty severe drawbacks to keep them from working exactly like this. Did you emerge from a time capsule someone buried in the 2000s or something?
 
Played the demo for half an hour. Really have no interest in this type of game to begin with but the art style was cool so I gave it a shot

Started with a slog tutorial of just following map markers. Controls and gunplay felt very stiff and not in a tactical way

Then a real game. More follow map markers and pick up 50 billion different items of loot that I couldn't bother reading the descriptions of since I'm probably not playing this shit again anyway.

Ran into some robots and shot them and it was trivial. Lost a bit of health. Open the consumables menu, it's a wheel with like 8 item names on them where you can't even read the description so you're supposed to just know what "Mechanic's Kit" is by name (it's a status effect cleanse btw). I found the heal eventually, but even the basic health+shields system that's in like half of shooters the UI somehow made confusing

More robots, oh I'm out of ammo already after killing 3 NPCs. I had another type of ammo but I didn't pack a gun for it because in the clusterfuck of predeployment menus I didn't bother to consider ammo would be this bad of a bottleneck. Me and another guy died and the 3rd guy form random matchmaking was 200M of away from the objective so we couldn't be rez'd in time, but it didn't matter because he could revive us after the revival period expired anyway(?). So we went to the final map marker and won without encountering a real person once.

It'd probably be more fun on a higher difficulty after learning how everything works, but at this point I was 30 minutes in and didn't even see the faintest promise of fun gameplay so I turned it off.

This shit feels like they tried to condense DayZ into a 20 minute matchmade experience with a bunch of unnecessary complexity, but apparently this is a popular genre called an "extraction shooter" now so maybe I'm just out of touch. A shame they didn't make literally any other type of game with this artstyle
 
That's not the issue, the issue is there is no counterplay, blazing TTK of well under a second means the advantage is total, it's not "substantial" it's massive.

If you want better loot to give big edges all the TTKs have to go up across the board, as is this game is just death match with annoying gathering and looting so you can have one eyeblink pvp encounter.

That's the issue I'm bringing up, the gameplay loop is fucked.
There is counterplay, its just positioning and working as a team. If you don't want to immediately die in 3 seconds don't immediately run into another teams spawn with out info fagging first, stick to cover and form over lapping fields of fire with your team mates. Call targets and take turns putting down pressure and stepping out of the fight to heal. This shit is easy enough on paper, but hard to do in practice.

My complaint about the TTK is that if you're caught in the open or caught unaware there isn't much you can do despite having several runner abilities or equipment that in theory could bail you out of hot water, it's all preemptive shit. For example I flanked a team that was perfectly geared for close combat, but they were currently peaking my team with DMRs, my knife swings faster than any of them could react and could weapon swap to a shot gun. GGs.

This game is dressed up like an arcade shooter, but plays more like a tactical game at times. I think reducing the TTK would make it the like the former and I think I would enjoy it more. I think nearly every one would enjoy it more.

The loot isn't giving big edges either, this just isn't tarkov or what ever the fuck is going on in destiny, just loading in with sponsor kits is more than enough to make a come up. So far my game play loop is signing up for a free kit, scavenge what we can off the map before finding the nearest enemy team and duking it out. If we fail we repeat and if we succeed we made a come up, we fill in the missing gaps with what ever bit of kit we need from the vendor. The we repeat.

Were constantly chasing after quest/task objectives. That's the engine that drives our loop. Some times we do boss fights or the random events. Some times they drop great loot, mostly its meh. Good loot helps when your in a honest gun fight, but doesn't do a lot when you get ambushed. We typically reserve the events for when we are fully kitted and most the of enemy teams are dead, it's often not worth the risk if you cant handle AI and players simultaneously.

This just isn't a game for casuals or people who have a back ground in single player fps games. It's very niche and it's going to probably die as a result.

Snipers have a reflective scopes when zoomed in and also leave bullet trails. That map they are playing on is a snipers delight, it was built for it entirely. The other map is a mid to close range map.

It feels like you’re arguing with your own expectations more than the actual design. You have ideas and complaints about those ideas, but we arent playing your imaginary game.

Like people who complain about the appearance of the game. I can appreciate that the environment resembles a bouncy castle long since abandoned in the wilderness, but call outs have never been easier for me and my friends.

"Right side green rectangle" or "2nd floor blue building" is so much easier to explain and understand on the fly than any of the vague shit in tarkov.

"bush/tree?" and "a factory building door ?" is so much harder to understand.

I keep hearing soy youtubers sing bungie's praises, last I checked they haven't shipped a good game since Halo Reach. They are a studio that releases unfinished games at full price so they can sell you expansion packs for the next 10 years.

I hope after this fails they will stop trying to make these gay extraction shooter games.

Game is ok.... can't see it being super popular like Arc Raiders is but its ok....
 
They should add an smg with heatseeking bullets and a 1s ttk to the game.
If anyone complains just remind them that bullets hurt people and dont change it at all.
