Clawed back some more players for tonight. I’m going to guess that on official launch there is around 20,000 - 30,000 players.

PvP frequency: In an effort to drive more players into each lobby, we've increased the number of Crews that will infil to Perimeter (Beginner). Since so many early-in-career Runners are going through there first, we wanted to take a chance to test this out and see if it helps create more PvP opportunities. How's it feeling?
Terrible change.

Also a lot of who gives a shit changes.

Adding more players to the newbie map is just going to end to more people quitting. They will die before they learn the ropes and they will die without a chance to fight back. The newbie map should have no PvP or very very limited PvP. It's to learn how the game works, to learn the basic mechanics. Not to be ambushed after 2 minutes and wiped.

'An absolute eyesore': Marathon's biggest issue seems to be its poor UI design that's confusing players, 'I have no idea where I'm at, what I'm looking at'

Other reactions
I played the Marathon test and I couldn't even bring myself to finish a match because It is 1:1 identical in every single aspect to every other extraction shooter. It does not deviate, iterate or add any kind of twist in the least and the only thing I was legitimately impressed by was how uninspired it is.
"But the art style" wowie I put food coloring on white bread isn't that cool and unique?
(replying to his own tweet about trying out Marathon)
Uninstalled.
The game is called marathon because all you do is run around in circles looking for the one other team on the map
Yeah. Marathon peaked at 75,342 concurrent players today, a 47.5% drop from day oneIt could stabilize or increase a bit from here in the next two days, but this is not a good bounce rate, and definitely not what you want to see ahead of the $40 launch asking price

100%
Marathon is a niche game with a niche art style in a niche genre for a niche audience
Problem it can't be
Marathon must be big
Sony didn't spend 3.6 billion for a dying MMO and an extraction shooter with niche interest
Marathon IS the bailout, the flagship, the crown jewel

Yeah I thought it would be doing worse but its seeming to keep people coming back. Shit I keep coming back but I've played every test pretty consistently, and have liked the idea of the game since it was teased back in 2023.

The biggest thing about marathon is that its the perfect difficulty amount. Its not as easy as arc raiders where everyone just wants to LARP and not actually play the shooting video game, but its not as hard as tarkov where everything is bullshit and annoying. Its literally a perfect amount, the game gives you a great amount of information regarding a item, the PVP is extremely smooth, and AI's don't rape you as much. I've been having a great time with it, but the big issue is with solo queuing, this game is just straight up not fun by yourself. The teammates are so shit and never communicate, but when you do get a game when someone is communicating its great fun.

I played like 3-4 rounds. I get the feeling there is more to this that im missing so I might try more later. The biggest issue is queuing with randos it feels like there is no team work and cooperation and half the time they just run off and get downed by AI.

Also, I just find the loot to be confusing and I dont really know what I want or need. The art style is cool but I don't find it as instantly readable as Arc Raiders. Still that's probably just my need to put in more rounds and get experienced.

Unfortunately if the game is not fun solo queuing I might not be into it.

Is it a telling sign that Sports games are higher on the pre-order sales list on the PlayStation Store over Marathon?

Or is this is a nothingburger sign because Sports game players usually only just play those and almost nothing else? And not even a $150 price tag will stop people from buying the newest Wrestling game, I guess. And will the fans try to cope by saying "it's only PS5", since they like to use that argument when people mention about Steam player charts, because "the game is popping off on consoles".

It ain't looking good on steam either. If you exclude dlc and free games it's on 14th place global top sellers. This is kinda funny:

I checked xbox store but can't even find Marathon on "most popular" and "most wishlisted" list. This can't be right. Maybe unreleased games are not included.

A lot of sports gamers are niggers who always buy the new shiny thing so.

But I do think Marathon is only gonna have like 20k on launch at best

I know a few people who are sports gamers, they will get every single sports game they like, every year regardless of price or quality.
Before the server slam I was guessing around 20-40k at launch. Now I'm predicting it'll probably be 40-75k.

>0.72 Body Shot TTK

Its fucking ogre my guys, they are retarded, I could pour over other reasons why this chart is apocalyptic but anyone who has played games like this should be able to figure it out.
It's pretty on point with Destiny 2's current time-to-kill, which may also give even more credence to what you've been saying about the game being an asset flip.

its not on point, its the same, lol.
these are the same guns from Destiny 2, I already knew they were the same in practice, aka, fire rate, reloading animations, frames, everything, but they are the same in play too, except in Destiny 2 you can't add on to your TTK with EPIC SHIELDS.

The TTK is too fast, and the Shields on the high end give too much extra to your TTK, if you want to increase the TTK with better loot, all these numbers need to be slightly higher across the board, as it is, the shielded nigga will always win the fight so long its you and him, also some of these ranges don't really align with the guns TTK performance at all, and by that I mean some of the better guns have better ranges than most of their in-class guns, like the BRRT which stands out as egreigious.

I'm telling yal, this is just a D2 Asset flip, in complete and totality, this is literally extraction variant on Crucible, nothing more.

I came here to post this, but you beat me to it.

.5 seconds for a pistol to kill you, lol.

The TTK is too fast, and the Shields on the high end give too much extra to your TTK, if you want to increase the TTK
Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but Some of those weapons see a .2 or .3 second increase in the TTK when shooting at a runner with no shielding and shooting at a runner with the best possible shielding.

I got to play with the shotgun today for half a dozen matches and this chart looks spot on from my experience, absolute noob tube.
