the dota structure is actually a really well constructed team game where each of your teammates plays an independent role in a larger team composition that tests their strategy against another team. If you go back to warcraft 3, it was how you crammed 10 people onto a multiplayer map that didn't just devolve into unit spam.

Balance issues that are not really a problem when you're playing with friends suddenly become a problem when you're queuing with randos who are trying to level up. When i played league of legends ~15 years ago, nobody really discussed team comps you were just assumed to understand the meta and pick a meta option. Which just meant that people who wanted to play off-meta characters like teemo just got labeled as trolls and rabblerousers instead of people trying to have fun
Sounds like shit for Korean ladyboys, I play every game like Oyff and actually like extremely hard games that push my reflexes to the absolute limit like Trepang2, and in the pandemic I beat Doom Eternal on Ultra Nightmare

I tried Pedlock out of morbid curiousity and it was legitimately one of the worst fucking things I have ever played and felt immediately bored after 3 matches and if DOTA is anything like that I hate it for feeling sluggish and unresponsive despite me winning with Yamato

When I did multiplayer I was an absolute pro at Halo and Gears of War, those fucking trannies at 343i decided to add League of Legends style matchmaking into MCC when old Bungie's system was absolutely fucking perfect

Halo started with ~10 people and eventually became ~35. 350 people worked on Halo 4 - was it 1000% better than Halo 1 because the staff count increased by 1000% (or was it 300% better than Halo 3, because it had 300% of the people working on it?).
This reminded me of my favourite shareholder mindset saying: "9 pregnant women could make a baby in 1 month."

They don't know. The ORIGINAL game design was something like Tarkov, but with less players and more environmental storytelling, more unique PVE stuff and puzzles. The new game design is just Apex Legends with extra steps, which is why the ranked mode is just 'find the other teams, kill them all and leave'. They are flailing around trying to find an additional playerbase, since the playerbase they chased is far smaller than they thought initially. It will take them well over a year to pivot to a new underlying game design, and that is just time they don't have.

trepang obviously thinks of itself as a very difficult game, it reminds you constantly while you're playing it, but it goes to pretty extreme lengths to constantly maintain that feeling artificially. it just comes off as illusory after you get instakilled by a boss with no forecasting and have to re-do 10 minutes of meat grinder for a mission for the fifth time in a row. The maps throw dozens upon dozens of waves of increasingly difficult enemies at you where you end up having to abuse game mechanics to preserve resources. Extreme pushes the reaction time of the enemies so fast that their animations don't work properly and the level of difficulty above that, Rage, just flat out says the only way you'll be able to beat it is by cheating.

the game revels in fucking with you, but doesn't ever NOT fuck with you, so it stops being a surprise. for about two hours the hostile game design was kind of fun but they just constantly escalate the bullshit without giving you a chance to breathe and build narrative tension so the whole experience is just mind numbing. its like if atomic heart and tarkov had a baby

I don't understand how you can think Deadlock is slow, it is incredibly fast paced and rewards quick reflexes and fast decision making. What are you talking about?

It ain't an arena shooter nigga, me being good at Quake III doesn't translate 1-1 to Deadlock or any MOBA, so if your gaming career ends at I am OK at FPS games its time to quit. Arena shooters don't have an audience anymore, Quake Champions is dead, Diabotical is dead and Quake Live is haunted by the 90s players who know every spawn in every map, they did have an immensely high skill ceiling but that doesn't mean new game don't reach or surpass it.

Trepang2 is not even hard but its a call back to old game design that demanded extreme timing and reflexes, so skill issue lmfao no wonder you play Dota

If you are bothered by the lack of narrative and being constantly thrown at the meat grinder, older games like Ninja Gaiden Black would break you for how stupidly hard and unforgiving it is and it does that times ten and makes Fromsoft games look forgiving by comparison

My friend who is a Sekiro pro tried Ninja Gaiden Black on my reccomendation and could not get past the tutorial level and that whole game is brutally unforgiving and makes trepang2 look like a total fucking cakewalk

Itagaki famously insulted you and called you a ninja dog if you took the easy option and had Ayane give you little tips and tricks if you caved in and took the easy option and even gave the lowest 100 people in a tournament a ninja dog shirt

Live service trannycore/horndog games are piss easy and boring as fuck if you are the kind of person who likes a challenge

FEAR is far from a perfect game which is why it's so dissapointing that people are more than content to slob all over the knob of a game that soley tries to be a shittier version of it 20 years post facto. FEAR was a B team production from Monolith after they got gutted by Vivendi for fuck's sake

red team blue team sports team bullshit really shouldn't get in the way of looking at a game and going "yup, ahh.... this is a stinker." This is also why Marathon will continue to have fans.
 
Playing against another player of similar or higher skill level will always be harder than even cheating AI in games like souls games or the old Armored Core games.
Yeah I did that in old Halo and got autistically good at it when there were no femboys yelling for balancing the sniper to not one shot with a headshot and it was memorizing maps and weapon spawns and pure skill where everyone was equal

If you suck at souls games that is a you thing because I was the guy who called Elden Ring a femboy game before my friend got it for me and became so good at it in a year he had me clearing bosses he was struggling with, the guy who hates souls games but tries them and becomes obsessed is a trope

The skill ceilings of old multiplayer games are way higher than Pedlock or DOTA or Marathon could ever muster and because of that nobody plays arena shooters exactly because they are so fucking hard and require split second timing

Even then, Halo and Gears of War as skill based and fair as they were are a watered down and simplified form(with a much lower skill ceiling) of what came before it with Quake and Unreal and I eventually got really good at Quake 3 even after it was wholly irrelevant with real players

The bots in Unreal also were so advanced they could pass the turing test compared to the braindead fortnite bots

their gameplay is made for retards who suck at old games or even modern games that are too hard lmfao, and the visual cues being fetish art is repulsive to me because i know its made to tempt whales into buying skins for it

When a gooner game is well made I will play it and get insanely good at it as long as the gameplay is good and does not put me to sleep like MOBAs, like Stellar Blade which is a gooner game with an aesthetic I do not care for but the fact it has elements of Sekiro and MGR made me buy it

To ellucidate on why I feel design language matters I see the visual cues of MOBAs and live service games as inherently predatory and an old Crowbcat had a video on the predatory nature of TF2 and how visual cues are absolutely everything in making people feel compelled to spend money or how TF2 has degraded as a game because monetization and microtransactions are more important now so putting im trannies and twinks and furries and homestuck characters into deadlock makes absolute sense because those femcel gooner types will spend money on skins to dress up their kpop idol like the son they will never have and express their jocasta complex as many gooners who are porn addled are more likely to spend money and make bad financial decisions
