Mario Bros. Set to Jump to Big Screen in Movie Deal with Universal’s Illumination - Paging Movie Bob, Paging Movie Bob...

I'm surprised how much I actually liked it. The only few things I'd say it needs are the Italian accents.

Also, I understand why the girlboss Peach feels weird. Her being competent is actually nice, & surprisingly not a new thing either, but at times, she feels more like Daisy instead of Peach. Hell, that "so many galaxies" part makes her seem a bit like Rosalina.

Mario being a dopey incompetent loser, which itself isn't bad either, but Hollywood has soured the well by doing this maliciously too many times.

Looks better than expected. We might be in a situation where both Sonic and Mario have decent movie franchises.
Is it though?

My friends kids were watching the second one when I was picking him up to go play pool the other night, and I spent 15 minutes watching it and it was all about some black bitch trying to get married to the high yellow dude from Criminal Minds. I was like "Where the hell is Sonic?"

This looks better than that, but honestly it sounds like some people are just starved for game movies.

That's typical, the middle of the movie is the weakest part.

The Sonic Movie is at its best with the moments that actually involve Sonic and his friends. I think most agree that the side plot with the humans is the weakest part.

Color me in the "slightly more cautiously optimistic" camp. Not gonna lie, the Mario Kart segment made my inner 7 year old squeal with delight.

yeah worst I can say about the trailer is it could use more MAMMA MIA PASTA FAZOOL DATS A SPICY MEATBALL but I can understand the theory behind maybe dialing back the Italian stereotypes a bit
def a good WAHOO, though

also this should end up a hell of a shot in the arm for Universal's upcoming Super Nintendo World

Gonna be honest, while I didn't mind how Peach was depicted in the trailer, I think the people who are upset about how she's depicted shouldn't be mocked or brushed off.
It's not like Hollywood hasn't had a history of doing this shit by this point, so people are frankly just tired of it, even if there is precedent for Peach to be more capable in the Mario series.

It feels like they are completely unaware of what the culture wants now, but keep force feeding it down the audiences throats even when they say "No". So it just feels tone deaf, like someone making a movie in the current era with a 9/11 message or a movie in which the Germans are the big bad in a war set in the current era. People are right to think Hollywood is in a bubble when it comes to this.

The thing is that she is nothing like Peach, she is just now the stereotypical strong woman who needs no men, I'll be surprised if bowser even touches her.
Why can the games(like Paper Mario or Mario 3d world and stuff) show her actual personality while also making her competent, but holywood has to follow this terrible tameplate that has done nothing but just make every female character annoying and untouchable?

Chris Pratt’s Mario is pretty good; not great, though at least he nailed the “wahoo” at the end.

Charles Martinet is also listed as a voice credit in the first trailer, I can't tell myself if it's pratt or not going 'wa-hoo' though, I assumed martinet was brought on for the OG lines and Pratt for the speaking role.

So apparently the French dub kinda mogs the English one.

Italian dub is ironically kinda weak at places.

Japanese dub is probably my favorite
The good thing about localization dubs is that they can use real voice actors instead of big names. Children's dubs have quality because in most places you won't watch a subtitled movie with kids.

That being said, I just watched the trailer. While it looked fine, it's really obvious that Mario will be a goofball and Peach will be a girlboss. It's basically the same plot from every current year movie. In fact, I'm expecting Peach to outright reject any Mario's love advances, telling him how she's better off as a lonewolf or some shit like that. It sounds innocent, but the plot is so recycled and woke I don't find the movie intriguing.

Because it's Hollywood. They've always used movies to push some kind of agenda, mostly political.

With women, they're still in that radfem phase where they are strong, independant, and need no man... which doesn't look like they will stop that anytime soon since it's been a thing for like a decade or more.

The most obvious example being the Emoji movie where they turned the princess emoji into a color-haired bitch SOLELY to push a feminist agenda, which T.J. Miller ouright admitted that was the point of the movie.

It looks good but the part showing Mario was a goofball and Peach as the strong woman did make me roll my eyes. I guess the writers need to make heroic so they can pat themselves on the back on how not sexist they are.

It would make sense for Peach not know how to defend herself. She's a princess. She always had guards around her since she was a child. she wouldn't have learned how to fight her whole childhood would have been studying politics and however else how to run a country.

But has this even remotely been proven to actually make more money though? From what I've seen, people are beyond sick of it to this point.

Even "good" movies with "strong female characters" seem worse as a result.

All media is propaganda. The beatings will continue until morale improves. Next gen will only know this shite, mental prison erected. Families deleted gov can now plant the workforce they need. Feed them bugs and pron plus let them rent their media, keep em as dumb as possible. Your tax dollars at work.

It gets them inflated reviews, which is what they care for. The movie will make money because of the names attached to it and because it's a big franchise. It could be the two worst hours of your life and it won't flop. But if the critics agree with your political message it'll get a 90% certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.
