Mario Bros. Set to Jump to Big Screen in Movie Deal with Universal’s Illumination - Paging Movie Bob, Paging Movie Bob...

Peaches made it to Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, it’s currently at 83rd.

Surprised it took this long for trannies to start complaining about the Kamek drag. Boycotting Harry Potter didn't work out, maybe they should try boycotting Mario. I'm sure the world will immediately stop supporting the movie.
Box office almost 700M$, when me and family went to the local cinema, almost every damn ticket was booked on all shows available.
Havent seen this kind of reception since Avengers.

Would this be qualified as a sleeper hit?

I also liked Peach, despite imo being portrayed too competent at everything (hollywood studio just cant help it not tick off this one from the list of modern writing must-haves), remains as support cast and Mario eventually outperforms her as the stubborn nimble manlet he always been.
I hope this contribute to simmer down the trend of ludicrously enmasculating girlbosses on mainstream media.

Yep, both the 90s and 2000s are coming back. I don't know when, but given what we're witnessing here, we could see a resurgence.
They should come back for real as in it better be 1998 tomorrow not seem like it or repeat of it or spiritual successor shit.

Is Peach being a girlboss even subversive at this point? Making female characters girlbosses is so common now. Like it's not brave or new. Its just a typical western media trope now. God forbid a woman acts like an actual person. They all have to be hopped up on immaculate levels of self esteem and confidence to a point they have no apparent flaws or vulnerabilities.

I remember people pointing that out about the Emoji movie, when the blue haired girl turns out to be a princess or something. Some people were saying that it's been so long since the mainstream has used traditional princesses that the target audience won't understand the joke.

I don’t think every video game movie needs to follow this exact formula, but I think it does show you can make a game adaptation for the fans and still have a successful film. Obviously not as successful because it’s Mario, but hopefully this will encourage less changes in game adaptations.

I'll believe it when I see it. If the rumors are true regarding Miyamoto hovering over Illumination's shoulders, then the message isn't so much "hollywood studios should learn from Mario's example" (because let's be real, they WON'T), it's more that owners of said intellectual properties should be more strict with their IPs as to not let hollywood studios run free and turn their gold into shit.

I guarentee you some exec or focus group member is fucking seething right now because they were told "NO!" in regards to not going full feminist/communist/woke/etc... and if there's one thing history has told us, they NEVER like it when someone tells them "no".

Nothing can be subversive if it's commonplace.

I'd say so, and that's just for the movie. Forget if it helps improve Nintendo sales as well.

And neither Resident Evil, Tomb Raider nor Doom could ever do the same, but are still defended by consoomers all because of the respective names.
