First off, you're not being too hard on Fantano. The guy is a massive faggot but he has his own thread so I won't get too off topic. While we are on the topic of Punk, take Sex Pistols. Johnny Rotten is probably one of if not the most prestigious names in the history of Punk, the guy went on to found Public Image Ltd who also are highly esteemed as post-punk innovators. And he wore a MAGA hat. Soyboys like Fantano want to retcon these little details in order to maintain the hoax. Maybe I am being hard on Fantano, I mean I’m sure he’s a nice enough guy.
Ariel Pink and John Maus, arguably some of the more respected hipster punk artists of the last 15 years, we’re both at Stop the Steal on January 6. The Ramones we’re supposedly republicans
The only thing “all artists are leftists” is because the totalitarian nature of modern lefty bastards being completely psychologically and socially incapable of sharing public space with people who think independently
My guess is Beersoy was just a low effort malcontent who learned a few power chords and took on the 'punk' identity in a failed attempt to get some hipster pussy. Unfortunately for him, he's 5'1 and looks like a leprechaun so the best he could do was @TheEx. No offense to her.
I'm of the opinion that punk started and ended with the Pistols and everything after that was either post-punk or a cheap imitation of Nevermind the Bollocks. Beersoy's pleb tier taste certainly falls into the latter category. Mindlessly strumming the same 3 chords while whining about the state of the world, very cringe.
John Lydon famously said of Green Day "they're basically just a coat hanger with three leather jackets hanging off it". Guys like Gavin McGinnes and Beersoy took the wrong message from the 'punk' phenomenon. It wasn't an aesthetic, it was a mentality. Bands like the Fall, Joy Division, and Wire took the right lesson and left the tedious 3 chord progressions behind and went for a more complex and intelligent sound. But again, this kind of talk is way over Beersoy's head so I'll spoiler the rest of my music sperging.
I wouldn't necessarily call Ariel Pink and John Maus punk adjacent hipsters. These guys are brilliant and transcend meaningless genres. Maus in particular is some kind of mad genius. I don't think he fits into the left/right paradigm, he rejects the contemporary political landscape altogether. If you haven't done so already, I'd highly recommend listening to some of his interviews, like this one.
