Artcow Matt Furie - greasy, delusional furry porn artist who really hates the meme he created, litigious ANTIFA

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I believe that he teamed up with/was blackmailed by the ADL right before or right after the election, in order to "take back Pepe" from the alt right.

The way to take Pepe back, involved drawing new Pepe comics, where he went full Hillary, promoted tolerance and tryharded "making hate uncool" or some shit like that.

I can't find these right now, but saw a few of them, and the result was hilariously cringy.

(You know the good ol' kinda cringe that you always get when corporations try to hijack some new meme? Or when your dad uses urban slang he saw in some music video? Yeah, it's just like that!)

There you go, Matt! You sure just showed them Nazis and Trump supporters!

I remember Cracked.com wrote a hit piece on the alt-right. One of their reasons for why they sucked was something along the lines of "in the original comic, Pepe was a chill stoner, not a nazi! The alt-right doesn't grasp the concept of parody!"

The alt-right grasps the concept of parody as well as Cracked grasps the concept of comedy.

*sigh*
As a fan of heavy metal album covers... I kinda like his art... At least the art he makes when he actually tries.

Although even the greatest artists in the world are not qualified to dictate politics.
Honestly there's value in even the weirdest art, it's when the creator tries to explain it or force a specific message that can ruin the work and take it into cringe territory

Did he really freak out because Pepe was being used by right wingers, or did he freak out because it was used in actual offensive ways? I mean, Pepe was used in a ton of super offensive memes, not just innocent trump stuff.

Well, Pepe was a meme in general (offensive and otherwise) years before Trump came along, and I'm not aware Mr Furie was complaining then. I actually have some sympathy for an artist who has their work kidnapped for meme purposes, especially if they hate the message behind the memes, but it's more or less impossible to prevent. Even huge corporations like Disney can't do that.

The only sensible responses are to carry on using the character, make it clear you don't approve of the memes and hope privately that no publicity is bad publicity or you stop using it and tell everyone how the mean nerds ruined it forever. You can't really do both, especially if you make a huge fuss about it.

Interesting how Pepe came a long way! It came from an unfunny comic about some dog looking thing walking in on him while he's taking a leak, he's become an internet celebrity, and now he's being used to promote Alt-Right nazism to children!

If anything, Pepe shows us that the american dream is still alive. From some character in a questionable comic by some cuck to the internationally recognized icon of the alt-right.
