I HATE it so much. 10+ years ago if I wanted to find something about like, fixing a car, I'd get a page with the exact instructions, footnotes about models and variants and extra links. Possibly a link to a car forum for that specific car.

Now? Some wigger on youtube stutters in between ads "uh, duh, I think this thing has to uh, duh" WITH SQUARESPACE YOU CAN...

Not to mention, just locating content is tricky these days. Often videos with a lot of watch time get boosted like crazy and end up appearing very prominently when you search, but the transcript of the stuff said in the video is not taken into consideration so what you get is all the videos that don't help you in particular being displayed really prominently and the video that does help you is hidden somewhere in it. When guides and tutorials are written it is much easier to locate just what you need because the search engine picks up its keywords which match up with the keywords you are searching.

There's of course no interest in fixing this, because having you hunt desperately through these videos is all precious watchtime which means delicious ad-revenue for google/youtube.
