The Kiwi Farms continued existence, and its treatment by institutional power, is a canary in the coal mine for Free Speech online and in this country.

It’s also a representation of the current state of our country’s institutions, which people control power and censorship, how they exert control and censor/hide corruption, and what they want.

I am not joking when I say that watching these events transpire for my own eyes has now changed how I view the state of this country, and inspired me to political action.

I am telling people about this situation in real life. I am a liberal person. I believe everyone should have the right to live their life in peace, free from the burden of discrimination and judged solely by heir own merits, character and abilities.

However, when you harm another person, exert power over others, harm people’s ability to manifest themselves freely and honestly in the world, you should be stopped, punished, and exposed.

1. Systematic and organized slander spread by news organizations, based on accusations with literally no tangible evidence, except the evidence provided on this site that disproves the claims of organized swatting and violence.
2. The participation of aggrieved enemies of the site to deplatform it, almost always due to exposure of their own dirty laundry on the site.
3. Organized harassment campaigns on Twitter, by a few thousand demonstrably mentally ill users, based on no evidence, resulting in the near instant caving of an international company providing the backbone of free speech and access on the Internet to a quarter of the world
4. An actual, proven hypocrite, groomer, liar, misogynistic sociopath (Keffals) being supported by the mainstream media and having his various crimes swept under the rug
5. A campaign openly based on enabling illegal behavior (DDoS) of a site that is fully legal
6. A mass flagging campaign by Keffals and his ilk to deplatform and silence any critics based on bad faith abuse of various social media systems.
7. An idiotic Republican politician who doesn’t understand the Internet and how swatting works, openly believing the most blatant false flag swatting attempt I’ve ever seen - the swatter committing a felony saying where they come from, their name, and that they fight for trans rights.

I could go on but here is the bottom line. This is a gossip site. This site allows non-PC language. This site allows people to say pretty terrible things.

But this site also is a repository and archive of valid and valuable information that is not available on the mainstream internet or media. This site has exposed Zoophiles, Pedophiles and Animal Trafficking Rings. This site preserves the publicly stated words of journalists, activists, internet figures, and politicians that would seek to manipulate the public, hide their own crimes/lies, and prevent the exposure of their criminal or despicable actions.

The Kiwi Farms existence is a counterweight to the incessant lies perpetued by online figures, politicians, and those who would seek and lie and manipulate.

The thing is, it feels like something even larger than that to me. It's not just one of the last bastions for free speech and free expression online, but also a last bastion for forum culture online. Almost everything is on discords these days, the closest thing to a forum most places have is a subreddit, which as you might guess is more like an ultra-corrupt BBS network than a forum. And then in places that do have forums, often those forums lie dead and silent, if you write a post there even if it's a lengthy high effort post it could take months or even years before anyone posts a reply to anything in the same thread as you. It's quite depressing too because forum culture is where discussion got done, people would articulate their thoughts far better when the norm is to write plenty as opposed to having to write short tweets. Often forums would be associated with an IRC, that's normal, but IRC and by extension discord servers have never been a competent replacement for foruming. I feel that a large part of the rampant corporatism online and big tech algorithm brainrot owes it's relevancy to the fall of forum culture, which honestly makes foruming feel like a kind of counter-culture, like a way to strike back in some small way against that alternative paradigm.

Modern Internet lacks focus. I like forums because the are usually focused around some topic — lolcows technology etc... Pseudo-anonymous format of forums allows you to recognize user that post quality "content" and be able to say whatever you want without fear of being harassed at work like on twitter. Everything on Internet is being chopped into small bits – tweets, tiktoks and served in rapid succession so we "consume" more. Fuck this algorithm brainrot.

There was a very marked move to video content in the mid 2000s. Prior to that the internet was all written content. All tutorials, instructions, blogs etc were all text.

The move to video does 2 things, it lets retards go online (if you hated reading you wouldn't be on a forum) and it consolidated internet content because bandwidth is expensive. You can't even find written tutorials for anything now, it's all clickbait videos. They made the normienet and it's being controlled just like radio and TV.

I recall that even forum culture had video at times, so you could get video tutorials. The catch was that it was never streamed, you had to manually download the video files and they were usually quite low res (as was normal of its time). They often had no sound as well and you were expected to follow the writing to get any kind of commentary on what was going on. Honestly it was very comfy and I prefer following those instruction-manual style videos rather than the usual youtube style stuff.
