His narcissistic ego was so damaged by his failed crusade against Destiny that he's become an unironic armchair physicist.
Honestly both of these retards are narcissistic, but different flavors of it.
Max exhibits
covert narcissism, appearing empathetic for self-validation, while Destiny shows
malignant narcissism, using others for personal gain without empathy. Their relationship followed a predictable path:

Initial Attraction: They were initially drawn to each other, finding complementary qualities in one another's narcissistic tendencies. Max’s covert narcissism, characterized by seeking validation through feigned empathy, initially complemented Destiny’s malignant narcissism, which thrives on dominance and admiration. This mutual benefit sparked their connection, as each found in the other a source of narcissistic supply.

Conflict and Power Struggles: The relationship soon faced inevitable conflicts due to their narcissistic tendencies. Max’s need for validation clashed with Destiny’s lack of empathy, leading to arguments over emotional support and understanding.

Manipulation and Deception: To gain the upper hand, both resorted to manipulative tactics. Max used emotional vulnerability to influence Destiny, while Destiny employed control tactics like public denouncements and confrontational debates.

Deterioration: The dynamics took a toll, especially on Max, who emotionally broke down when he couldn’t get his narcissistic supply from Destiny (That being getting him to see things “Max’s way” and being more “emotionally open”). The manipulative environment fostered by Destiny (as perceived by Max whenever Destiny would make him look bad or when he banned him from his subreddit) contributed to Max’s emotional outbursts on his stream after their falling out (where he would also see anyone and everyone who disagreed with him as an extension of Destiny and would react accordingly by loosing his shit and shutting down any discussion).

Breakdown and Termination: The relationship ended spectacularly, with both severing ties and acknowledging the incompatibility of their narcissistic needs and making each other a persona non grata to avoid at all costs. But Max took it a BIT too far and wrote an over 100 thousand word report against Destiny (That resulted in NON of Max’s expectations of limiting Destiny’s growing reach and influence coming to fruition).
In the end this is the narcissistic equivalent of an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object, just way more autistic, intellectually cancerous, and terminally online for most people to stomach and handle.
