The debate about whether or not Chris is 'crazy' renews itself every time we get a new letter, Each one has slowly pointed this was, but this is the one that firmly convinces me that Chris has indeed gone insane. Before, the ranting about Sonichu and the merge felt like maladaptive coping mechanisms to the extreme. Pretending you're somewhere else in correspondences feels much more like wishful thinking and play-pretend than anything else to me.
This ludicrous rambling about Barb is different as it is clearly harmful to Chris's interests and is just plain more bizarre than other fantasies. I really can't read the comparing and contrasting highschool masturbation habits as something motivated by anything other than insanity, (although not necessarily in a legal sense of course.) In some ways, the 'crazier' the letters are, the more sane I think Chris is. This is relatively focused on issues of reality but in ways that can really only harm him.
On the other hand, this letter does seem to have a lot of references to the legal system that mostly make sense, so maybe that's the competency restoration working.
For practical details, what are people's takes on the claim Barb wasn't 'interviewed?' My uninformed guess would be that doesn't include an initial wellness check, and naturally Chris is an unreliable narrator and if he is being 'truthful' it may just mean she refused to speak to them. Is it really possible that they wouldn't have tried to interview Barb? If so, what would that mean about the case?
What does EngleHardt mean by "OMG details?" is he referring to something he hasn't revealed publicly? There's lots of weird stuff in there, but nothing I'd feel more inclined to tell Heilberg than any other letter. Plus, this may be paranoia, but reaching out to Chris's lawyer or anyone involved in the legal system seems like a tremendously bad idea It's not likely, but it feels like it would increase your probability of being roped into the whole thing by a lawyer searching for
some angle from zero to something.
The 'don't contact Cole Smithy' like jumps out at me too. I suspect that something happened behind the scenes to make him say that.
Registering my prediction: the first letter won’t mention the hospital or anything at all about the two month gap. Chris really successfully trolls everyone in that sense
I'm going to count less than half a sentence's worth of a mention as this prediction coming true by the way lol.
