McDonalds - I'm Lovin' It

I think it's one of those deals where it's just so commonplace, people eat there because there's fuck all else around. I had a job in a giant office park where the only restaurant you could make it to and back on a lunch break comfortably was a McDonalds.

I don't think I'd ever be able to eat at McDonald's again if that ever happened. It should be a once a month thing at most.

I gave up them up late last year because the last time i went I waited fifteen minutes for a large fry.
Now that ubereats and postmates and grub hub, ect. exist, they prioritize them over even the smallest orders so it makes the point of getting fast food completely moot.

The chicken sandwiches they sell for breakfast are alright, other than that I really don't care for it. Only time I really try to hit there is every March when the shamrock shake sells or if they decide to bring back the McRib.

There was a gas station I used to go to, that had a way better Rib Sandwich and it was available all year around. Their McRib has gone to shit.

The Big n Tasty (Quarter Pounder with Cheese Deluxe) never fails though. Always hits the spot.

Yeah, they've gotten stupidly expensive as of late and fuck that, Wendy's does their price level better and actually a wee bit cheaper. So does Hardee's.
And it ain't just the drinks too, for some reason I don't get, everything on their menu is more expensive in Canada than it is over in America. Heck, all fast food joints I've been to seem to be more expensive than their American counterparts except Wendy's.

Leaf dollarydoos are worth less.

They have gotten to be kind of pricy considering what they're selling. McDonald's has always been the C-student of fast food joints, just doing enough to get by. $2 and change for a single McChicken sammitch doesn't sound like a lot, but considering you're paying for a low tier item that's been sitting on a warmer for God knows how long, it's a bit ridiculous considering not long ago they were on the dollar menu. Just spend a few extra bucks and get something much better, tastes better and prepared better. McDonald's is trying to LARP as some artisanal high class bullshit lately.

Where are you going that it's not on the dollar menu?

I live in Portland. The one location I usually go through was charging something like $2.30 for one. I don't know if it's just that single location or not (I don't go through McDonald's very often) but their prices have been a bit odd lately.

Well, fuck Portland. That is just the kind of shithole city that would fuck you over like that. It's still a dollar last time I saw it, which was almost exactly a week ago.

McDonald's fries are great, some of the best in fast food, but the burgers are where it falls apart. I'm sure the meat is real (not some conspiracy theorist that legitimately thinks McDonald's specifically uses filler or reject meat or whatever), real as any hamburger patties are, but I think the reason why they're not great is because of the specific way the meat is treated. The meat is smashed flat due to the griddles used (which does affect taste and texture--not to mention any processing in the factory), causing a lot of the juices to leave the meat (that is, those that haven't already left), and the patties aren't very large anyway (regular ones are a tenth of a pound, so already there's not a lot of meat to go around).

The company still needs to decide what it wants to be, trying to go "upscale" with fresh beef in Quarter Pounders and using "higher quality" ingredients (not always a good thing--Chicken McNuggets before their reformulation tasted way better, and let's not even discuss the new apple pie released a few years ago), all while ridding the chain of the fun, interesting stores, and creating a menu that is somehow too large and complicated for restaurants to handle, yet also oddly small and limiting at the same time.

McDonald's (for me)
Pros:
+consistent, that makes it very reliable for me
+very accessible, it's everywhere
+decent breakfast choices
+affordable if you want very basic sandwiches
+regioanl exclusives can be very neat (I have the guava and cream cheese pie, yum)
Cons:
-processed
-desserts could be better (as a Floridian, we got pretty basic shit
-Dollar Menu (for sandwiches/meals) is barely a thing anymore, if its around , if its for fucking drinks, i dont care for a 1-2 dollar soft drink, i can get that anywhere.
-not experimental enough at all (let me explain lol)
-there's better for basic burgers/sandwiches regarding price, flavor, quality, etc than modern McD
-McCafe is not that good, especially the shakes.

I know i mentioned how I like the exclusives, but I also hate how McDonald's isn't experimental enough, this is mainly because America I think gets the very basic-bitch end of things and never really tries to introduce anything interesting if at all. The most the US tried doing the Around the World items ,

Basically you got chicken sandwich (ok lol), bacon burger, stroopwafel soft serve, and bacon fries.

Like, ok we're fucking Americans but c'mon. The most interesting was the fucking stroopwafel but it was just a soft-serve caramel sundae with pieces of the wafel.
This was a good try, but there are EASILY way more interesting McD items that they could've chosen that isn't just Eurocentric shit that can be found anywhere here. This is boring.

Why not offer McAllo Tikki (India), curly fries (Germany), McShrimp, McArabia, or some fucking item for us to try that can't be commonly found within the states , as well as offer better desserts/coffee like McDonald's Australia has?
Like it can't be that fucking hard, shits all frozen/premade anyways pretty much and the way they assemble food it's akin to stacking with how they just have shelves of patties, ingredients , etc

They're a massive company but I don't feel like they're trying hard enough in America, no idea how successful they are elsewhere in comparison. I know they have experimented before but its just boring they barely do anything as bizarre or fun like before. That's my two cents on Mcdonald's really.

The reason I go to McDonald's is only for convenience and their breakfast sandwiches/hashbrown is nice- if I want a basic bitch burger there's cheaper and better in somewhere like Checker's and Steak and Shake at this point and I don't think McDonald's is ever gonna be able to rise back up from its former glory unless they reapproach their business or just be weirder sometimes, at least.

I know they're trying to be more "natural" and "healthy" but it's clearly not working for them and they should ignore health freaks complaining that it isn't healthy, if you want healthy go to a fucking salad bar or somewhere that prioritizes that, not a fucking fast food joint.

Every time they do something fancy, like Arch Deluxe or McPizza or even Mighty Wings, it's been a complete disaster. They're just a basic bitch restaurant and people go there for basic bitch shit.

Tell that to their delusional marketing wing, which is desperate to go artisanal despite the fact I just want cheap slop when I go there.

When your shitty double cheeseburger is nearing the price of a realpeople sandwich at other places, then you need to stop and think.
