I've run Pyrodex (powder and pellets) in my Pietta Remmy 1858 replica and have zero complaints. It lacks a bit of the charm of actual black powder, but it works a peach.

Also, while I dig the Walker, the NMA just looks cooler to me.
 
oh, and i dug through some of my stuff and i'd like to add the Ronin Senshi belt for a stiff pistol belt for a more "competition" bent, and the ever useful Eagle Industries "Operator" belt, which is 1.5" instead of 1.75" and more compatible with normal pants and Germanic tactical jeans if that's your thing.

State of Washington is going for a 30 round magazine ban next, apparently there are roughly 10 states already that don't allow anything over 10 and now we getting 11.

When will SCOTUS get to btfoing California on the 30 rounder ban remains to be seen but they taking their sweet time like everything else.

a thread protector is designed to protect the threads on a rod (any rod, not just a barrel) from incidental damage. typically knurled for removal when necessary. thread protectors may or may not have any sort of hole at one end depending on design.

a linear compensator drives muzzle gasses that would normally be emitted (in a compensator) upwards or deflected (brake) or slowed (suppressor) or captured (nielsen device) in line (linearly) with the direction of fire. this directs blast and gasses, especially with short barreled rifles away from the shooter while offering a bit of flash compensation and perceived sound reduction to the shooter.

they are quite different things.

Don't really care much for ARs but that pisses me off just a little. But I suppose it's just something for the DIY guys to figure out a solution to now.

Generally speaking, light and simple is best, don't think you have to get the big name tacticool gear that costs a bundle just because some guy on the internet says it's "what the specops guys use." Nothing wrong with getting some cheaper stuff to practice with or see what you like. I've seen people with like 20 ARs that they don't shoot on the regular, but I understand that people's tastes change over time as well.

I've always wondered if there was a significant difference in performance/perceived noise between the fancy linear comps like the SLR Synergy versus the simple KAK flash can.

Does a simple thread protector usually mean less noise towards the shooter let's say in an indoor environment that involves home defense.

Yeah, I am currently have the AWS LAB belt. it's a 2 belt design that has a neat twist: the outer belt is NOT molle, but rather a 1.75" belt that you can slide molle patches on. This is cool for several reasons:
1) the patches are full size, with full size spacing inbetween, unlike some other molle belts i've seen.
2) It's cheap compared to most of the other fancy belts, the base price is $60 and you only have to buy as many molle patches as you need.
3) Because the Molle patches velcro on, you can place everything EXACTLY where you want it. no settling inbetween squares, just position it perfectly.
4) They offer it in woodland #FuckMulticamGang

In the spirit of practical, I just have the belt, safariland mid-ride, cheap dump pouch, and 3 patches, which i will use for some esstac KYWIs when I get around to it. Just getting used to wearing it with the pistol and practicing switching from primary to secondary COD style.
