Very Controversial take inbound: I can't blame people for pistol builds, taking advantage of loopholes within BS NFA laws are very beautiful. But, with our current politics it wouldn't be out of the realm of reality for pistol braces to get outright banned and turn millions of Law-Abiding citizens into criminals overnight like they did with bump stocks.

I see SBR tax stamps as future proofing, once you get one you won't ever have to worry about Pistol Brace/SBR Laws. Also with Current Eform times, people are getting Form 1's back within 30-60 days.

As much as I would love to condone Illegal SBR's, the felony risk isn't worth it. Just ask Randy Weaver.. (God Rest his soul)
1. yes.

2. You're ignoring the word after "autistically" which is "specific". Which is what you have admitted to. If you're going into the NFA tax stamp realm SBR your lower and use a real stock.
I'm planning on registering an SBR lower, but I live in two states and would have to leave it in one or get one in each (you must inform ATF before interstate transport). I'll end up putting it off until I have to disassemble because of a law or ruling.

I'm not set on the pistols or the AR-15 brand. I kind of want an M1911 .45 ACP because my grandfather has one and it feels very American, but the comparisons between .45 ACP and 9mm lean towards 9mm.
Could always get a more pragmatic 9mm pistol in the near future, then aim at a 1911 in .45 at some later time just for a fun gun to have. Even a cheap-ass Filipino RIA 1911 is pretty enjoyable, and they work well.

Based. The 590A1 takes AR15 bayonets, so make sure to get one of those some day if you buy this shotgun.
Pump-action shotguns can be short-stroked as said, but that's very much a matter or practice and you'll just deal with it and get used to it.

So I've been reloading past hour and enjoying scotch so please take this with no meaning.

The m5 is going to be a train wreck. Very gay.

Null listened to me, 1911 is all you need . They aren't bad and it sounds like you know the layout and use. I just like to shit post. RIA are great entry level and with 200 bucks at a smith become fucking comfy.

Sadly it's already dead but I was shit posting on /k/ earlier some retard put his comp upside down on his XD (fucking always XD people) 10mm and thought red lok tight was lube so he hammered it off fucking ruining the comp and his barrel, I was DYING laughing.

Drinking and reloading sounds like some really fun times if you're giving the ammo to a buddy.

Also that sounds like old /k/. I'm glad the spirit lives on.

I'm an old fag /k/ommando and I will not stop doing retarded dangerous gun shit till I die via a mosin bayonet prostate massage gone wrong, or loading a 7.5 french too hard my face explodes.

I've been talking to some FFLs, and I don't know how true this is but apparently the ATF has a 8+ month backlog since they decided that e-file was a little too convenient for us common pleb.s

Or you could just buy a bullpup like a AUG/VHS/TAR. You will need to re-train as those are a bit different (esp mag reloading while prone) versus a conventional.
Do note that if you want to get mods for it you might be out of luck. Don't buy the surplus parts kits unless you want to be a NFA felon (Unless your a SOT like this guy who made a full auto AUG and modded in A3 parts) when you convert it into full semi-auto since the ATF will just rule "constructive intent", or a large paperweight.

@SuperConglomerateWhale I'm gonna disagree with you on the CZ, maybe its just my area but I can not for the life of me, find CZ mags in stock anywhere except for the 75 RAMI.
Then again, I carry a TT-33 because we've had junkies with IIA armor before and steel cored surplus was cheap back then when I bought it.

Anyone have any "deals" they really wanted but had to pass for some reason or other?

I remember as a kid at some military reenactment (After the AWB ban), an old man in his nineties offering me an pre-86' machine gun for 5,000 USD. Never figured out why he even made the offer and if it was legit. Couldn't convince my parents to hold that one in trust for me (:_(.

That's weird, LGS' around me have plenty of them. The Eagle Arms gun show in Adams County I went to while I was passing through there had one FFL that had a whole table of Walther and CZ mags, not sure about other gun shows. CZ makes a good gun (firing pins not so much) and for the most part they're solid. For awhile I couldn't find Walther mags for my PDP because everything was fucked and I can only have 10 rounders, now they're in stock locally.
I wouldn't carry a gun like a Tokarev because if you end up needing to use it on someone it'll be taken as evidence and you'll most likely never see it again as it may disappear into a collection. If you do get it back, the shit they use to lift fingerprints is a nightmare to remove. I've been considering getting an M&P 2.0 in 10mm and running critical duty.

The interstate travel is allot of people's #1 complaint for not getting an SBR, but..
most people don't know that the ATF signs off on Pre-dated 5320.20's, so you can fill it out within a couple of minutes, submit it, do all of your traveling and then around two weeks later you'll get it back approved. I have a few friends who are allot more into the NFA game than I am and have done this method countless times without any problems.

Also a 5320.20 gives you up to a year if you need it, so if you travel between the two states allot, you would only need to file for it once a year.

If you're gonna spend $200 extra you may as well just get a much nicer 1911 from Ruger or Springfield and have a far nicer gun from the get go. RIA 1911s should be left stock, short from maybe the grips and magazines.

I've heard the same thing on timing from my local gun shop. Seems they're intentionally slowing down approvals.
As for bullpups... I'm ambi. Primarily left handed. It cuts the options down.
Earlier in the thread I was posting about getting a lefty friendly .308 bullpup, but the only options are over budget or, in the case of the Keltec, have a poor reputation for accuracy.

The TT33 is kind of awesome. If you can get your hands on some Czech or Russian surplus steel core ammo, don't think twice, buy a whole crate of it.

Still, not the best option for a first handgun, something more common in 9mm would make more sense. If you liked the Beretta consider the CZ75 as well, there's a reason IPSC shooters swear by those.

As for shotguns, well... look at this sexy beast.

I asked my stream for 2 pistols, 1 shotgun, 1 rifle suggestion. From their input, this is my non-conclusive list.

AR15 M4E1 in 5.56 (Aero Precision)
Mossberg 590
Beretta 92
P365-380 P365 in 9mm

I'm not set on the pistols or the AR-15 brand. I kind of want an M1911 .45 ACP because my grandfather has one and it feels very American, but the comparisons between .45 ACP and 9mm lean towards 9mm.
AR brand, for the cash the IWI Zion is excellent as is anything from BCM with an Mlok rail system. Once you got beyond about $1000-$1200 for an AR your just paying for a name or some weird proprietary features

I personally wouldn't consider meme rounds like 10mm or .357 Sig if you're serious.

My suggestion to new shooters looking to gear up is make sensible purchases but also realize this won't necessarily be cheap. With firearms you very much get what you pay for.

9mm has a huge variety of self defense, target shooting, training etc. I would very much recommend a flavor of Glock or S&W M&P. These are very basic, very reliable and proven handguns that can get you to where you want to go and can be fully customized to your tastes once you know what you're doing.

AR wise? Nothing wrong with Aero, decent budget brand for new AR owners. I don't personally own one but I've heard very little negativity towards them. Avoid brands like PSA and Anderson. Your basic no thrills M4 style AR is enough to train on.

I'm not super well versed in shotguns so I'd just recommend what I personally go with, police surplus 870.

The paramount thing to remember though is training is more important than hardware. Ammo is expensive now regardless but good training and fundamentals is priceless. You don't need to be a Terminator but common sense and good judgement go a long way. The best hardware in the world won't mean dick if you can't use it right.
There is nothing fundamentally wrong with a PSA "premium" mid length AR build kit. $500 or so gets you a rifle that goes bang. Same with Anderson or Windham. If ALL you want is a 5.56mm rifle with a 16 inch barrel, mid length gas system and a small picatinny rail on top for a better sight than irons your good to go. Pop on a polymer Magpul handguard for mlok slots and you're golden.

You pay more for a better barrel, handguards and QC (PSA has a lifetime warranty).... Oh and that rollmark.

While I generally agree that most cheaper stuff is just as good as more expensive things, I don't skimp on live-saving gear such as armor, medical, ammo or firearms and I generally recommend no one skimps on those things.

For just a hundred or two hundred dollars more he can get Aero/S&W/Ruger, which have much better quality control and build quality. If you just want to shoot at a range PSA works, but if you want a rifle you can trust to run in your worst moments I wouldn't go for it.

My only other thought on this is that a forged lower is a forged lower. I generally agree that lowers don't really get different as you go upwards in price, but I'm open to being proven wrong by anyone who has more experience on that front.

A .22TCM / 9mm Rock Island 1911 is so much fun it might be banned in California 😅

As for the M5, can't wait to see the diversity creatures in the Army be unable to rifle quality because the M5 is 14 FUCKING POUNDS with it's required sight and supressor. I love the YouTube gun bunnies jacking off to it especially when you realize NONE of them have shot it with the 80,000 psi "real ammo" and have just been shooting low power, low pressure 135 grain TRAINING ROUNDS they are roughly equivalent to .300 blackout in term of energy (out of a amusingly short 13 inch barrel because that supressor is 4+ inches long)

Ugh the rifle would be excellent in 5.56mm with a 14.5-16 inch barrel and I have a feeling the next gen Virtus/MCX will just be a downscaled M5. But no some retarded general officer who hates 5.56mm HAD TO HAVE 6.8x51mm aka .277 FURY beca he's retarded and actually thinks the average grunt will be able to get reliable man sized hits at 500+ meters while huffing and puffing with a 14+lb rifle and dealing with 7.62x51mm levels of recoil (lol to accurate follow up shots). Goddamn that guy is stupid.

I definitely regret not getting an old Mosin Nagant when Bass Pro had piles of them for 100 bucks.

I kinda wish I had gotten a Kel-Tec KS7 when they were $499. I see them going used for $899 now and I'm not crazy enough to pay that for a meme.

A local gunshop had a Gyrojet pistol for like $2400, I know I'd probably never shell out for ammo(and probably wouldn't fire it if I ever found any), but it'd still be a fun curio.

I'll probably regret every year I don't buy an M-1.

I bought a ks7 for $425 shortly after they hit the market.
I'm always taken aback when I see them for $800+.

If you want an M1 buy ASAP. They are only going to get more expensive and they aren't making anymore.

Is it like the ksg in that new it's still not insane, but you can't find them so used is high?

Maybe, idk.
Other that the one I have I've only seen like 2 others.
I just know what I gave for mine so when I see them higher it throws me off.
CDNN Has them for $600.
KS7
Same as me thinking that I overpaid ($6-700) for my saiga almost 8 years ago but now see them for $1000 plus.
