Any kiwi's have any experience with either the new Gen 2 Extar EP9 with the steel internals or the UTAS UT9M? Really want a small PCC to mess around with, don't want it to cost a brick. Waiting to get that sweet MP5 or Scorpion eventually so I can live out all my coolguy dreams. But in the meantime, I want a real fun PCC that'll stand up to some abuse and I can gift it to my girlfriend once I get the one I really want.
There's about a trillion reviews of the Extar, but very few on the UTAS. I will admit, I'm partial to more metal on my guns, so I'm leaning UTAS. And the Extar is proprietary, so no fun drop ins, where I believe that the UT9M has pretty standard AR build, so you can drop in standard AR9 parts.
I've sold some hobby stuff, so have the cash to get either, just wanna get your guys' opinion.
Small mechanical issues don't bug me, I'm a hobby gunsmith and most of the guns I have now are things I had to fix. Just don't want any reports like, "Yeah, the extar blew up in my hand, stole my wallet, and got my girlfriend pregnant with a black baby."

My advice is, if you want a MP5 or Scorpion and you've already got saved cash, keep saving. Don't settle for substitutes, that's how people end up owning PSAs.

would the hellcat pro 15 round mag fit in a standard hellcat? my friend's got a magazine extension and we're seeing if we can get one that will hold 19 rounds after slapping it on.

the magazine body and feed lips are the same, the sleeve is not compatible and some aftermarket magazine extensions that replace the baseplate may also not be compatible. if you remove the sleeve (or cut it to avoid the interference at the rear of the magazine with the bottom of the frame), the hellcat pro magazine will work normally with a standard hellcat pistol.

3D printed 9mm subguns in Myanmar.

How far we've come, when mass-produced 3D printed firearms are showing up in the jungles of Myanmar & Brazilian favelas. I've even spotted some of the more expensive "3D printed" sintered-metal types being shown off by cartels & whoever captured them.

Too bad the price for FA will still be artificially high for as long as the NFA is intact, in cash or and/or time. I just wonder what the going rate is for these sorts of weapons now, along with the more traditional arms & heavier stuff. How much do they cost on the black markets of Mexico & Myanmar, the sporting goods stores in Ukraine, versus the US prices (both legal & not so much), etc.

With the various Memorial Day Sales going on now how hard would it be to install a new Fortis K2 Castle Nut and Endplate and switch out the safety selector in a AR-15 for a newbie?

Real scifi shit, right? Makes me want to get into 3d printing but I dont want to deal with the faggots that are into 3d printing.

That's trivial stuff that's about 10 minutes all in if it's your first time.
But because you said it, and Murphy doesn't take days off.....
:stress:
He seems to be extra attentive when it comes to wrenching on firearms, so good luck.

As with everything related to gunsmithing, it's no problem if you have the right tools, in this case, a good castle nut wrench and some way to secure the lower in a vise without damaging it, probably a lower vise block.

It will be a lot less easy without either of these things and you'll run the risk of dinging something up improvising.

Edit: I swear I've seen two of almost the exact same image of a GI cradling his M1 in Korea, circa '57, and one with an M-14 somewhere in Germany (or Vietnam) circa '67. I'll try to find them again, because the soldiers even looked eerily similar as well (from what I remember), but it's been years since I read those books & magazines, and I'm pretty sure that's where I saw them.

Edit: :story:
Why anyone would choose one of these when there are functional rifles of every flavor imaginable, I don't know. Maybe this was from the early days of the war, prior to the invasion he liked to be different, and the guy looks like he may have had a habit of poor life choices, so maybe the thing isn't so surprising.

was PSA working on an aluminum gen 3 glock frame or was that something i just think i read? i've been looking into metal frames and so far i've only come across the alfa foxtrox and the mx19. an all metal glock is alluring but the five to eight hundred i'm looking at for a metal frame opens up other options. i really, really like the mx19 but this is all hypothetical at the moment

The idea that some of these fucking things (especially the lend-lease 1911) found their way to being pointed at Russians as god intended almost brings a tear to the eye. Kind of like those (staged) photos of Humvees finding their way to the promised land, even if iirc they were chinesium knockoffs, disappointingly

Bring that 1911 home, he's served his time

Update for kiwibros. Was interested in a cheap PCC to tool around with. Girlfriend really liked the UTAS UT9M, so did I. Decided to just go with it, since she can have it for home defense if I don't like it much. Cost me $479 brand new to my FFL. Sold off a really beat up Alpha MTG card and paid for the whole thing with it. Got it home a few days ago, and am completely floored by the quality. This thing runs, looks, and accepts parts better than a few of the nicer purpose built AR9s I've handled. I initially thought it would be "turkish 12 GUAGE" levels of "high quality metal construction", but this thing is a fucking tank. Accidentally sold a couple more to the guys at the store who were checking it out when doing the filing for the paperwork, had never heard of the thing prior.
Notice that people say it runs off-brand Glock magazines unreliably, but they all pulled it straight out of the box and went to work with it.
I do not shoot straight from box, on any gun ever. I took it completely apart, wiped off all the factory gun grease, filed out some small burrs, oiled and rigged everything, this is a smooth fucking operator. Have had no issues with non-OEM glock mags.
Retails for around 800, but can get em off GB for half that. So if any other relatively poorfags want to get a compact PCC, I will now shill for this gun. Waiting on my canted irons and nice red-dot to get in. Then need to find an underslung flashlight/grip and a longer flash hider/comp. But I'm sold on this, so is she, we will be getting her one next month.

Now my question is, who has a good source for a decent underslung picatinny flashlight? Bonus points if it has a laser and functions more as a forward grip for max coolguy.

Edit: after further consideration, I don't think this is a real AK.
