I think they built those from parts kits, so more like assembled. Only issue I think those have is triggers going dead randomly, but that's something all semi-auto VZ-58's have except for the ones from Czechpoint which have a tabbed carrier.
Like the infamous MISR 90's, where they had the brilliant idea to build AK's by combining Chinese MAK 90 and Egyptian Maadi/MISR parts kits to form new rifles...even though those two rifles were made to completely different specs and dimensions.
I think what made the VZ 2008's different is that the receivers were actually made by another company and they just put them together. I never had the dead trigger issue with my VZ when I had it.

Costs more but I think for AK's you're just better off buying a parts kits build from a reputable builder. I had an East German build from Atlantic for a while that was pretty good. Favorite AK's though are the Chi-com ones, really great triggers on em.
That's not true. CAI used to be responsible for opening the magazine wells and other stuff. These started as single stack magazine rifles and most of the issues came from that.
Nothing about combloc AKs are cheap anymore. Even a barrelless Romanian parts kit is almost $1000 now.

It's at the limits of soft armor, yes; but most guys have plates now, except for deep undercover & private security.
No wonder he had such an attitude problem; that thing is bigger than he was, so carrying a deagle would be like a constant reminder of how he's cucking himself.
At least where I am, we don't carry those plates all the time. There's space in the carrier for running them but most people still just wear softs for comfort and carry a secondary plate carrier that has to fit over the soft armor.
that's what i used to do too. soft armor under the uniform blouse, and if shit gets real, a plate carrier in the trunk i can slip on, on top that has the various tactical shit on it. swat guys had a similar setup but had rifle pouches, et c on the vest, whereas typical patrol guys would have a pouch with buckshot or a couple spare pistol mags. increasingly the shells were swapped for a three single mag pouches for AR-15s as patrol rifles started getting more common.
