You're talking about Shield Arms mags, I assume. Did you get the mag catch too? They recommend metal on metal because the OEM catch on steel mags can cause issues. The steel mag catch will also eat up plastic magazines.
I only just got confortable shoiting with both eyes open as opposed to closing my left, so I might wait awhile on the dot. Especially since I'd have to get a new holster.

Just wanna say that this post planted a bug in my head and I ended up ordering a 20" Howa heavy barreled action and a H7 chassis for it. Comically, it was cheaper than buying the same existing 24" heavy barrel rifle, so I ended up with the short rifle I wanted and saved some cash on the way.
This is a user preference thing and also depends on use case. I'm a Geissele fag and have a few SSA-E triggers and think they're worth the ridiculous price. Timney triggers are famous for competition and are complete drop in cassettes. It just depends what you want.

If you just want to dip your toes into the space, CMC and Rise Armament have drop-in offerings around $100. My CMCs break a bit nicer, but the Rise RA-140 (I think it's been rebranded as Rave-140 now) was solid and a huge improvement over milspec. Pretty sure that you can get the latter for $100 with anti-walk pins included all day long at places like Aim Surplus and Primary Arms.

Anything can do you in a single round with good shot placement. A person can take a lot of 9mm to the extremities and body and still keep coming.
It's why I carry a 38 special with trusted ammo. Shot placement will compensate for power differences almost every time. Now if you shoot like shit and you're opponent is determined, hoo boy, sucks for you
many federal OIG's omit body armor for most sworn LE except during arrest/seizure actions, the coast guard doesn't require it except during particular duty assignments, et c.
A friend of mine works for State Dept Diplomatic protection and they were telling me it's optional mostly because they're in a office half the time.
