At least where I am, we don't carry those plates all the time. There's space in the carrier for running them but most people still just wear softs for comfort and carry a secondary plate carrier that has to fit over the soft armor.
Maybe but the VAST majority of people never have and never wear any Type of body armor.

Most PDs give their officers soft level 3A vests and some really fancy soft vests are only marginally thicker than a sweater yet still stop most handgun rounds and buckshot.
Maybe it's just here, then. Everyone has armor now, even if it's just those little heart-sized trauma plates. There's also some cool composite/ceramic inserts for attache/briefcases & backpacks which have been especially popular. There's enough firepower, meth, and anger in these hills, that it'd be reckless to not wear plates; even though it's five flavors of fucking hot most of the year. Still, sales of carriers & armor have been strong ever since the summers of love, especially with certain other demographics.

And on that note; we've been seeing a lot of guys come into the shop that are most certainly prohibited individuals, and they act like the gun counters & walls don't exist; yet they'll spend noteworthy amounts of money on armor, optics, and accessories. But it's all stuff that could easily be bought from online retailers, so why pay the retail premium & put themselves on camera?

Well lemme clarify, the soft vests we're issued can take a ceramic plate in the front on top of the ballistic panel but not everyone wears one. They're very light weight but you can still feel it, especially if you're like me and wear a MOLLE soft vest to take weight off your belt/hips.

I personally don't care about civilian ownership of body armor, if we have it so should you. Not trying to sound like Billy Badass but I know where to aim on someone wearing a vest.

Are these people paying cash? Might be worth it on their end not to be leaving an electronic trail.

Speaking of armor, what's the verdict on Hesco L210 for light rifle threats? Think mild steel core 5.45x39, mild steel core 7.62x39, maybe M855/M855A1.

New Goober Group giraffe mount, they did a chop job on their gay ass Hydra. retails allegedly $175-189. Aimpoint, Eotech and MRO offerings.

How does the L210 stand up to different rounds? Basically, here is how it breaks down (per round type, not combined):
5.56x45mm-M193: 3150 ft/s (3 hits)
7.62x39mm-M67: 2390 ft/s (3 hits)
5.56x45mm-M855/SS109: 3150 ft/s (3 hits)
7.62x39mm-M43 (Mild Steel Core): 2390 ft/s (3 hits)
7.62x39mm-API: 2390 ft/s (1 hit)

Thanks, sounds like it performs exactly as advertised. Buffman's tests seem to be along the same line, looks like a solid option if not expecting anything larger than intermediate cartridges.

They're not NIJ certified so that's a no from me, dawg. I'm sure they're fine but I'm not willing to bet my life on it.
Yeah, that's the only concern I have, although Hesco has a very good reputation compared to some of the other shit available around these parts. For the most part it's understandable why the L210s are not certified as the threat rating doesn't fall in any of the NIJ categories, but still not very reassuring.

Was also looking at some United Shield International Zeta 6H level IV plates. Not that I need level IV, but they're certified and available now. USI is listed on the NIJ site but I'm still digging through site to find that exact model.

Degenerate furry plus ex Navy = Opinion discarded, he can guzzle Glock cum forever, can't change the fact that stock Glocks are meh pistols with unchangeable shit ergos and grip angles.

He also doesn't realize that metal is more expensive than plastic always. The Piston driven SIGs were fat and overpriced. Manufacturers discontinued shit all the time and noz they aren't going to make parts for it forever, deal with it.

Hel, the Indian army went with DI 7.62 SIGs as their trials found it to be just as good as a piston driven rifle.

SIG makes guns about as good as everyone else and the P365 bitchslapped Glock so hard they still feel it.

Every gumaker makes a lemon every so often. Shit happens, they either fix it or they don't.

Meanwhile I'm happy with my M&P 2.0, P365 and an assortment of revolvers and European/Turkish semi autos.

His other bitching is fucking autistic, rheeeing about SIG optics, NO FUCKING SHIT they aren't as good as a dedicated optics manufacturers.

Ohh and 99.5% of "magical gun going off incidents" are people being retarded.

I crossposted this over in the Ukraine thread; an interesting interview & article about their snipers, gear, and job-requirements:
Snipers: second place in inflicting casualties
The last time that you spoke to Euromaidan Press, you said that helping snipers is the most cost-effective thing you can do for Ukrainian army, apart from artillery. Is that still true?
Judging from the casualties rates from our side and the Russian side, and according to the information from the medics, when it is relatively calm on the front lines:
  • 88% of casualties are from artillery.
  • 10% are from snipers.
  • 2% are from ordinary gunfire.
When the offensive starts either from the Ukrainian side or Russian sides, then the proportions are different, but in general, snipers are always in second place.
Very seldom does an attack continue when the snipers start shooting. Usually, the Russians retreat.
Another reason why snipers are important is that if the Russian attack is going on, and the Russians are trying to encircle Ukrainians, then snipers come to the scene. One of the effective ways to stop their attack, when there is not enough artillery or machine guns, is to use snipers in a direct attack. Very seldom does an attack continue when the snipers start shooting. Usually, the Russians retreat.
Additionally, during Ukrainian regular offensives, like it was near Kharkiv [in the fall of 2022], it is important to suppress the machine guns of the enemy, to hit their armored vehicles from Barrett .50 BMGs and capture them.

How is that possible? To capture armored vehicles from a sniper rifle? Tell us about that.

Well, sniper rifles of caliber .50 BMG penetrate the armor of the IFV. There are three types of American armor-piercing bullets. The explosion inside the IFV is like ball lightning; the vehicle stops, and you can shoot a few more times. But the main thing is that after capturing this vehicle, it can be easily repaired and used for attacks.
You mentioned special American bullets right now. I imagine that the right equipment is essential in your work. Could you tell us more about what sort of tools the snipers need?
First of all, we use American armor-piercing bullets, taking them from Browning machine guns. Not every bullet from those machine guns is suitable for our sniper rifles. So, our task is to find compatible ones and supply everyone.
Usually, we use an ordinary .50 BMG caliber sniper bullet to take out soldiers, we buy those every day and have purchased nearly 150,000 of those bullets. .416 Remington Magnum, .375 CheyTac, .338 Lapua Magnum are the most widespread calibers that we use, sometimes we buy thousands of those daily, especially now.

Overall, snipers shoot more in this war than in previous wars, and even more so during the counter-offensive. So, we need a lot of bullets, the demand is huge and we are forced to buy those every day, because otherwise the counter-offensive will stop.
Russians mined everything. This is even worse than during the Kursk battle, in World War II. They mined literally everything they could. They even mined their trenches. Even if you get to the enemy trench and jump into it, it doesn’t mean that you will survive. A Russian officer somewhere there can remotely activate all those mines along with Ukrainian soldiers and the remnants of Russian soldiers.
There are huge difficulties with the Russian mining, and it gets worse, becase Russians constantly disperse many bombs with the help of special devices on top of what is mined already. So, neither the military nor the infantry can move around freely...

I've been hearing from some buds on the Russian side (including some trained as snipers) that the whole dedicated long-range sniper role (as opposed to the role of a designated marksman as a force multiplier) is rapidly becoming obsolete, or at least highly specialized.

According to them the reason is that if you have a long-range target, nowadays it's much easier to hit it with drones, mortars, or ATGMs than with sniper fire. The concept of "sniper terror" was essentially replaced with "drone terror."

Interesting how the doctrine differs based on availability of weaponry.

Dumb Nigger

Lol, cute. Maybe the degenerate furry you posted here will peg you if you ask enough.
Wait is he actually a furry? Legit idk if he is. Regardless, I wouldn’t get a sig personally they just seem to have a lot of QC issues. Got a buddy that rents out a lot of different guns and all the sigs have a lot of part breakages.

When I was younger I really hated the idea of a polymer framed gun, like really hated it, I got a police trade in sig225 for $300, I ran out of money had to sell it. I really liked that thing but, I went glock and never looked back. I found a glock 27 barely used for $325? I think it was? The size/weight impressed me and I tried very hard to limp-wrist it just to see if I could get a jam, going so far as to hold it with 3 fingers but it ran very well, it was not the first generation that had issues with the .40/feed ramp "thing". Then about a year later I found a brand new 17 for $400 so new it had the weird orange/copper grease the glock factory uses, it had been on display for about 48 hours before I claimed it. About a year later I traded it for a glock 22 that was in 9/10 shape. The 17 worked fine and all but I committed to .40 S&W for my self defense pistols.

I carry a G43 and it suits my needs. The only issue I had with it was the 10 round mag, but I found aftermarket mags which up the capacity to 15 without increasing the size, not sure how, but I ran about 50 rounds through them when I first got them and had no issues. Since then I've put a couple three hundred rounds through them and never had an issue. At the moment I'm considering getting a red dot for it, but not sure which pattern I want, and since I only just learned to shoot with both eyes open Im not sure how much advantage a red dot will really give me.
