I'm going to assume this is your "something goes bump in the night" pistol? I've been a believer in lasers on HD pistols, I had a friend of the family who was a fed, described lasers as having a psychological value in addition to simply helping one aim.
Something like that. My hallways are a bit too tight and twisty for efficient long gun movement.

It's a general upgrade and pretty easy to get
If those are more common around your parts than a Russian TT33, sure, can't go wrong with it.

Too bad it's very difficult to procure a Norinco NP762...

Ian has done a video on a Yugo Tokarev. I want one man, one of the reproductions, I don't care, maybe even before the 40 cal, I like the look, seen it in movies, and seeing the breakdown just makes me happy, and think about how it would look with my SKS

That's the reason I got my Model 36

It was used and abused well before I got it, quite old with the spur hammer, but I knew it'd be reliable as shit, and that 38 has a good track record. Got a pocket holster and Bianchi speed strips for it too.

Even if you have a Frankenstein, it's still a Smith in the end, which is what truly matters.
She is an old brick, but I trust her with my life. Haven't decided between the old grips that camw with it, and the extended grips. The old ones are so low profile I can bear claw the gun. The extended are almost perfect, just mite too bulky. May shave em down a few millimeters.

The ebay pics for the barrel took em in direct light, so i thought they were nickel till i got em. XD

Amd some hi-vis spray paint on the front and wondersight does wonders.

The following is my opinion based on what I've read/experienced, take or leave what you want from it.

I've never been a believer in a full size carbine for HD, a PCC SBR might fill the role but, I've always been of the philosophy a full size duty pistol is best. A light is a must have, ideally when possible a suppressor and I'll explain why; situational awareness is crucial, I recall actually watching some video on YT where the guy actually recommended grabbing a carbine and then big cumbersome non-electronic over the ear, ear-protection. If you think someone is creeping up you'll want to hear them coming and if you need to discharge a firearm indoors it's going to be fucking loud, your hearing will most likely be damaged and to some degree permanently damaged, after you discharged a firearm the next visitor your getting is going to be LE and they are not going to be able to distinguish the home owner from the intruder immediately, it's in this moment it's your job to communicate to them you live there and were being encroached upon, after that it becomes your job to shut the fuck up and politely decline any conversation without an attorney, this is much easier if you can actually hear what is going on. LE are hardly perfect, they are only human and can be quite incompetent, effectively communicating to them you are the "victim" can be a life or death decision. Off topic: I used to open doors for evictions for my local LE, it's the LEO job to announce their presence before forcing our way into a dwelling, I actually had a deputy get very offended at me when she told me to forcefully open a door to a strangers home without announcing we were LE, I asked her to please knock and announce she was a deputy and like I said she acted like I was telling her how to do her job, very offended. Somewhere between discharging a firearm and LE showing up I can only speak for myself but, I would remain silent and ditch the suppressor somewhere, the optics of shooting someone with a can are not good at all.

It's always made me sad what a marked difference the "optics" of a gun makes in the outcome of a self defense shooting.

"You killed Jerome 'Once, twice, three times a felon' Johnson with your grandad's sidebyside? Okay, that's cool I guess."
"You killed him with a Benelli M4 with a light and a red dot on it? You could've prevented it! I bet you were just ITCHING to kill a man with your weapon of war."

'But they fire the same shell...."

"Yeah, but that one looks scary. 40 years."

There's no judicial history of legal attachments or gun modifications affecting the outcome of a self defense case. Quit spreading this fuddlore myth bullshit.

The only time this has happened is when a cop modified his duty pistol (which you are absolutely not supposed to do) and murdered someone with it.

Wasn't it something completely retarded on top of that?
Like an ejection port cover or glork striker plate?

I hate to agree but, when the LEO/DA looks at a shooting they take into account how offensive the firearm looks. I don't have Punisher grips on my 1911s and I don't have words on my AR's dust cover. Years ago I bought a Colt revolver off a nice old man, he tells me "if you got to shoot someone, shoot them with this, makes you look like Andy Griffith"

Years ago when Daniel Shaver was killed by the police, one of factors the DA mentioned was the dust cover it said "you're fucked!" or something cringe like that, it was the officers personal rife, approved for use by the dept. The shooting itself was one fucking hell of a bad shoot, the LT is screaming/threatening this guy contradictory commands, the guy is crying, there was no firearm found on his person or in the hotel room. Point being the optics of the language on the AR were a factor, now in my opinion the LT and the shooter should have been prosecuted but that's a different story.

Well since sanctions, true Russian stuff has gone up in price lol since now its a closed market. And yes, very sad about Nornico in some ways, I was lucky to get my Nornico SKS on a Black Friday deal for $399, usually they go for way more. That pistol looks fun tho, a double stack 7.62 Tokarev?

She screams old but reliable. Truly unique and most of all, yours. Love Smith and Wesson man. You don't hear about them much because they just make reliable shit that stands the test of time. Lord I need to go shooting sometime, get some practice in with the horde of .38 Special ammo I've stockpiled. BTW, what's your opinion on 38 special?
Action finally showed up, and goddamn this is a good looking rifle IMO:

Actual space gun I'd expect to see in a movie, love it bro.

Yeah, its essentially a Chinese P226 in 7.62x25mm, takes 17 round mags

I always wonder if these cop lore stories of "psychological value" come from real world experience or LE fuddlore.

Granted I'm not some HRT boomer execution squad member, but I dont understand how a visible laser would have a greater psychological value than the gun it's attached to. Either it's light enough that the intruder can see you pointing a gun at them or it's dark and you're already shining a bright light in their face(and washing out the laser). That's without getting into the possible legal questions of pointing a loaded gun at someone to 'scare' them.

One more consideration for lasers is that they tend to screw with holster compatibility, if that matters to you.

I love 38spl. I've got a bunch of hotshot 380, 9mm, 300blk, 357, 44, all the fun stuff. And I've shot a bunch of the hi-tech round. I've always liked 38 spl the most. Has just enough oomph at the end of travel to really do a number on target, but not enough oomph to break my wrist or make quick and accurate follow up shots something to learn and manage. I'll end up giving all my other fancy guns to my sons eventually. Aside from the 1851 navy and this revolver, it'll still be my old man carry. It's just soft shooting and hits really hard. I mostly use LRN, and get pretty good results. I've noticed that the hollowpoints (at least ones I've used at SD ranges) don't expand quite as much as with other calibers, so it's basically the same as just shooting ball ammo.
As firearm tech improves, there's this urge to discount everything that came before.
But LRN 38 from a 2 inch barrel has put a whole lotta people in the dirt, and I'd certainly not want to be on the other end of it.

I'm not sure in the grand scheme of it all but I used to work at a place where we sold laser pointers.
One day I shined one at one of my black coworkers and he pretty much dove onto the deck face first.
When he figured out that it wasn't attached to a gun he just shook his head and mumbled you just don't understand.

Agreed, .38 spcl out of a .357 mag revolver is a joy to shoot. The DA only 5 shot .357 revolvers become a LOT more manageable with .38 spcl if you're training with them or you don't want early arthritis from a .357 scandium/aluminum/titanium frame revolver rearranging your hand bones
Ahahaha KAC makes good stuff but GODDAMN they are expensive and are usually OOS.

Meanwhile PSA generally makes good stuff (doubly so for AR stuff) and of you have excellent CS of something is wrong. Oh and their prices are excellent, barring March 2020 to about mid 2022.
