It's honestly disgusting just to see how many hoops these cocksuckers in California will jump through just to take away someone's INALIENABLE rights. The obvious and only real solution is that they have to move, but it's sad that it even has to come to that just to live in a State that isn't unconstitutional. There's no fixing California, and it's not worth fixing. Let it be a cordoned zone for retards who don't want to live in a country that respects rights and has a functioning legal system.
 
States like California will keep pushing it, and their draconian laws will keep getting struck down by SCotUS. They don't know when to admit defeat and I hope they keep doing it until every last unconstitutional anti-gun law is finally abolished and we can all walk in to the bang shop together and walk out a half hour later with brand new full-auto weapons complete with sound suppressors, and without having to pay the extortion money that is the NFA Tax Stamp. Dems just never know when to admit defeat, even when it's within their best interests to do so.

As long as the 2A is treated as the black sheep in our current culture, this will continue and they are hard at work spreading their gun control to other states. They spread it to Delaware and Rhode Island and Oregon and Washington and Virginia and Hawaii, despite them having normal guns for decades after California passed their AWB in 1989 or NY with their SAFE act.

And either mass non compliance or states or counties breaking away would lead to some resolution unless SCOTUS and a future Republican (Democrats are a lost cause on this issue and are even the ones pushing it) to some degree act against these laws.

There was a mission in the old school kino known as Modern Warfare 2 where a nuke basically disabled all red dots or electronic powered sights.

Being in the wilderness or saving money on batteries would be incentives for irons even on a bolt action of all things. Since what happens if the scope gets broken by a bear high on cocaine. Then the rifle is useless without a scope for aiming purposes.

Where i live scoped rifles for hunting are not necessary. shots of more than 50 yards are very rare. anything longer and your probably shooting through someone's yard or down a highway which is obviously illegal. Manufacturers can easily add low profile irons that wouldn't interfere with optics easily and cheaply but that's the problem. the industry is so caught up in cutting corners, increasing margins and cheapening product that everything has went to shit as far as quality goes in regards to the major companies.

this shoot was modeled after live pigeon shoots, wherein a competitor gets two shots at one pigeon (live or clay) that is released from any one of five traps. the shot pigeon must fall within a circular fenced area to count as a point. these shooters are moving to different pegs so targets are presented at different angles. each shooter shoots from each peg so no man is at a disadvantage.

Live pigeon shoots still occur but are rare in the modern day and are usually invite only. pressure from PETA and other similar groups have closed most of the shoots or forced them to convert to clay birds. Live pigeons are still shot in portugal, spain, mexico and the united states.

So I decided to do something dumb and recently took delivery of an ErmoX XFire for $250 - a pseudo-G19 clone that takes Glock barrels, mags and some other parts, but has an aluminum frame and a completely incompatible slide, along with being cut for optics (Docter and RMR plates included) and generally being surprisingly well-finished for a Turkish gun.

After throwing a few hundred down the pipe, I'm actually not mad at it. The trigger is super meh, but aside from that, it's a pretty nice shooter:

The powered rails & single control pad is pretty neat, as is their suppressor design; but the quad-stack mags & cartridge itself is what interests me most.

At around Noon on November 13th of 2023, there was a police shooting in relation to a kidnapping situation involving two suspects in Scottsdale, Arizona

-At around 3:47, Officer 1's MCX experiences a failure, an attempted malfunction clearance at 3:59 fails to render the weapon operational necessitating a transition to handgun
-From 4:12-16 Officer 1 engages in a second malfunction clearance, causing at least two rounds of ammunition (see https://archive.ph/OAz0y) to fall from the weapon, this operation clears the weapon and it is rendered functional
-At 6:53 Officer 2's MCX experiences a failure, he does a tap-rack-bang and the rifle regains functionality, moments later at 6:58 he pulls the trigger and the rifle does not fire necessitating a transition to pistol.
-The deceased Suspect was wearing a kevlar vest and had a Full auto UMP 45 (see https://archive.ph/gAb2y)
-Based on the fact that there were two suspects, one of whom was armed with a rare MG and wearing body armor, there were other guns in the car, the deceased suspect and the victim were both hispanic males and the incident occurred in Arizona leads me to believe Mexican Organized Crime had a role to play in this incident.

Swedish Manufacturer Spuhr has showed off an old prototype optic mount, initially created after other offerings from an unnamed the company failed to meet the specifications of an unnamed SF Unit, it was intended to be used in .300 Blackout rifles with both Super and Subsonic ammunition. The idea was that one dot would be zeroed for Supers and the others for Subs. The Prototypes before this one worked similarly to the Spuhr BAM for machineguns (video linked below) but that system did not allow for windage adjustment and was thus rejected. Also does anyone know what proprietary AR upper that is? I would assume It's Swedish as that is where Spuhr is based.

It's less the design of the gun and more that SIG's QC is nonexistent.

From my understanding they were using older style mags with some sort of aftermarket baseplate and that's the sig fan boy cope. Weak mag springs maybe? I'm more interested in the UMP45 the suspect was using, where'd he get that shit?

Looks like it's a Spuhrs AR10 prototype that was shown off called the R-8000 ERS. It's a monolithic receiver, all milled from a single piece of aluminum. Truly a beautiful piece of machining. Here's some more info TheFirearmBlog and a Random Hungarian Blog

So for AR-10s, what is like the standard barrel size?

Like would the ideal AR-10 would have been basically an M16 chambered in 7.62 while everything else is the same like the fixed front sight post and all that?

You can get very high quality drilling rifles second hand for 1,500 to 5,000 USD pretty easily. vast majority are 16gax16ga over 9,3x62mm but other calibers can be found fairly easily. 12 gauge drillings are rare due to size/weight. there are also "cape guns" which are SxS actions with one barrel chambered in a shotgun gauge of some flavor and the other barrel in a rifle chambering. you can also get over/under combination guns. the quad barreled guns are more art pieces and proof of skill things than anything else. very few are ever ordered that way.

For ~3,000 USD you can get a gun that new would cost at least 5,000-20,000 new. im talking fully engraved, gold inlay the whole 9 yards. most tend to be in good condition, which makes sense. some one would could drop that much cash would take care of his weapons.

most of the german makers and some of the italians offer new drillings. thse are not generally bespoke level guns but can be on request. the really nice ones come out of ferlach austria (the video you linked is from a ferlach maker), in my opinion anyway.

I've been in the market for a nice used drilling for a while now. they might be the best hunting gun out there for my situation. 16 or 20 gauge for squirrel and rabbit, 7mm/8mm/9mm Mauser for deer, bear, boar or elk all in one package.
 
I would really love to get a Spuhr BAM for my LMT MWS308 for my M-Lok upper. I know they're heavy and typically meant for GPMGs, but that doesn't bother me. I like that they're already set up to mount a magnifier.

As far as standard length for an AR-10, the OG AR-10 had a 20" barrel if I remember correctly, and for the longest time that was pretty typical of .308 ARs. Knights Armament started offering 16" length barrels for their SR-25 and then everyone else followed suit. The nice thing about 7.62x51mm/.308 Win is that it isn't as dependant on velocity for it's terminal ballistics as 5.56x45mm/.223 Rem, so shortening the barrel on a rifle chambered for it doesn't negatively effect it's range and lethality as it does with 5.56mm. You do get a bit of an effective range drop going from a 20" barrel all the way down to, say, 16", but you'll still have much greater range and lethality with a 16" 7.62mm NATO than 5.56mm with a 20" barrel.
