Tbh for AKs what I’ve seen and had some experience with is the reload being annoying. On matches with mag load restrictions I’ve seen otherwise good shooters really just struggle because of the reload. It’s probably not as negligible if you plan things out well but I’ve seen a few AK shooters take a few seconds longer than necessary because they miscount rounds and get a click.People love to invest their egos into tools, and then argue why their chosen tool is supposedly better.
What really matters is: are your skills and equipment up to the task of your supposed use case.
Skills > Gear.
From the holster when I take a shit, unintentionally of course.Tell me you have low dexterity without telling me you have low dexterity. If you can't feel the difference between a series 80 trigger and a good trigger you're either stupid or lying. It's mushy and terrible, ruins the crisp break a 1911 should have.
The series 70, titanium pin, stronger spring, combo has passed drop tests in excess of 12ft. Where the fuck are you dropping your guns from that you're worried about an ND?
Habsburg obliterator.
Going to be some hard lessons learned, but Feds aren't people, so fuck'em.It’s gonna be interesting to see how many incidents will result from all the agencys adopting Staccatos, which are not drop safe.
Second hand anecdotal evidence on The Fudd Line? Lmao. From the holster when I take a shit, unintentionally of course.
Unless you have to run an AK if you want .30 caliber intermediate cartridge performance, the .300 BLK is ballistically superior and given current 7.62 prices, about on par in per-round-costs. Plus you can run it out of an AR, which I say is the ergonomically better platform.Tl; dr 7.62x39mm is based and deserves consideration.
Out of curiosity, did you ever consider the DWX Compact? Also update to my pistol search, I decided to go with a CZ Shadow 2 Compact. Roughly the same size as a Hi-Power, grip angle is almost the same, and optic ready. I did have to drop SAO and factory threaded barrel from my list but I since it's a frame safety model I can just use in SA exclusively and I'll pick up a threaded barrel for it. Got an RMR mounted on it so I'll shoot it this weekend.
Is that like a new DEI type thing? Like, "We're focusing on hiring more faggots and niggers so we're going to issue a pistol that nigger faggots are sure to love."It’s gonna be interesting to see how many incidents will result from all the agencys adopting Staccatos, which are not drop safe.
I've seen the OCL Lithium 9 online for mid 7s and Andrew makes good stuff. Others may have better recommendations.I'm thinking about actually going NFA and getting a can for my Glock but are there any decent 9mm supressors that aren't $800?
I did but my issues were it would have been like another $700 and there's absolutely zero word on anyone making threaded barrels for em in the near future. I've read it's nice but I really wanted a pistol I could suppress and while the Shadow 2 compact doesn't come factory threaded, the barrels are out there.Out of curiosity, did you ever consider the DWX Compact?
OCL cans are awesome, I want a Lithium for my next. Love the Titanium I picked up for my 22lr Tikka.I've seen the OCL Lithium 9 online for mid 7s and Andrew makes good stuff. Others may have better recommendations.
imagine the future of inner city gang warfare when you can buy a shitty open bolt SMG for $50If new production civilian full auto was legal, something like a sten gun would be super cheap to make. Probably be priced similar to a high point.
damn it's not often I see an anti-opinion that opposes reality this hard. The AK is worse in pretty much every respect. The charging handle is on the wrong side, the magwell is wrong, the mag release is wrong, the trigger is bad, the sight radius is bad, the mainspring travels under a dust cover that cant have any zero'd hardpoints, the fire selector is awkward, the barrel whips like crazy, and 7.62x39 is outdated junk that the russians dont even fuck with anymore. Muh reliabilitah is 60 year old boomer fud lore. This is all evident in the fact that military procurment around the world favors the AR pattern (see the chinese qbz-191) over anything like the AK. In aThe AK is more reliable, doesn't have the world's worst charging handle, doesn't have a stupid useless forward assist button thats more likely to do harm than good, doesn't have a spring in a tube in the stock that you can hear when you fire, and the performance difference between 7.62 and 5.56 is not quite as you described. Yes, 5.56 is lighter and flatter, but lighter isnt always better and at practical combat distances there isnt enough extra flatness to matter. There are also little quality of life things like 7.62 being more pleasant to handle and load than 5.56. In your efforts to paint the AR as the jack of all trades you've betrayed the fact that within its wheelhouse of short to mid range combat (out to 350yds) the AK is outright better, and the AR isn't good enough outside that range to make up for it. Shots beyond 350yds are unlikely unless you're fighting in a war as part of an organized army. Folks like us if we find ourselves in a war or the classic SHTF scenario combat is going to be much much closer than that. Think Guerilla distances.
A 5.56 AK is like a 9mm 1911, heresy, and 5.45 was never good.
The AR magwell and button is fast to use no doubt. It is also one of the few actual drawbacks of the rifle. You can over insert AR mags, and push button releases are prone to freezing when in cold climates. There is a reason that pretty much everyone else did a latch type of release on their guns before STANAG was a thing. And now everyone uses STANAG because... everyone uses it. Not because it's good.the magwell is wrong, the mag release is wrong
You're taking this way too seriously, I was leaning into it for fun.damn it's not often I see an anti-opinion that opposes reality this hard
Parts freezing is probably the only real issue with the AR. The mag release, bolt release and selector are prone to freezing in place if water find its way into these areas in freezing temps. But it does take a certain number of circumstances to achieve this, and it's very rare. I've shot in temps down to 15F but have never had any parts freeze, probably because I've never dumped water on my gun like in some of the torture tests people have done on YouTube.push button releases are prone to freezing when in cold climates
I dont know about 9mm but for 556 the otter creek labs plutonium is a good one.To piggyback onto the post @Agares made, does anyone have any good suggestions for babby’s first suppressor? Preferably one that I can use with my 5.56 ARs and my 9mm pistols.
YHM R9. works for many firearms, it's direct-thread and it's full auto rated if you really want it to go. i've used is on a Colt Commando, an M4A1 style rifle, AUG A1 with adapter, G36K, Colt RO639, and a few others. other than maybe switching to an H3 in the M4 to moderate the gas pressure's bolt velocity, it works very good for the money asked. it'll do double duty but remember that you need to play with the gas pressure on short barrels or else stick with 16" or so. it'll also be mediocre for 5.56, but safe to use for both. for a cheap full-auto rated suppressor that's not a throwaway pipe, it's pretty decent. i like the YHM T3 for a cheap 5.56 suppressor. there's better out there, but for $650 or so, it's hard to beat.To piggyback onto the post @Agares made, does anyone have any good suggestions for babby’s first suppressor? See. I haven't had any luck with aguila, but I find it's because of the wax/coating stuff they put on the cases. I had a brick of them melt together as a result of having them outside while shooting. This caused them to start gunking up my guns and mags amd ruining their function.classic firearms has 2k aguila .22LR high velocity (1200+ f/s) for $109 after rebate. i find they work well in a wide array of firearms, but some are picky. weirdly i have to either feed my Marvell kit expensive Eley, middling Mini Mags (or CCI HV in general), or cheapo remington golden bullets. aguila is hit or miss. it's almost the opposite in my M265 kit - it likes the federal automatch standard velocity, aguila match SV, and CCI SV, but hates most anything else.
