More photos including a WIP of the build. This is very old:

Video of that exact gun:
There was also another video where he shoots turkey loads, including talking about it, but that video appears to have been lost to time. I thought I had it saved but it doesn't look like it.

What do you guys think about cheapo 1911s I know rock island is the best in a budget but I was looking at the tisas tanker model. My understanding is if you stick with 45acp there shouldn't be any issues since the 1911 was designed for a semi rimmed cartridge
Range toy at best

I think I might have stumbled upon the original photo that inspired all the Ruger Standard/NT-4 builds I've disproportionately seen over the years.

canadian company Lockhart Tactical had at least at one point a plan for a .22 belt fed upper for their proprietary Raven-9 rifle, I cannot find a single image of it that isn't a rendering.

ATF Dummies are rolling out a new Illegal MG reporting and data collection service but because they're stupid they're referring to AK DIAS's as Super Safeties despite showing a DIAS (as confirmed by the dev who designed it, S3igu2) in their reference photo

Starting at 4:25 you can get a good look at a new style of barrel from Outlier Precision, which is some kind of sister company for Arken Optics
Essentially it's a sleeve around the barrel that adds what is essentially the entire length of the barrel (as it is the same as the length of the sleeve) as a massive reflex expansion chamber for suppressors. I see no reason why this couldn't be done with those absolutely massive "Structured Barrels" I brought up a few posts ago.

Hodge has a prototype "Unitized"/Pseudo monolithic upper

Icon Defense, Formerly Mega Arms, who lost a court battle to LMT 11 years ago leaving LMT king of Monolithic Hill, are looking to make a comeback into the market by also bringing a Monolithic upper to market

Rock Island functions. Tisas Is OK. Springfield gets their incomplete frames from Tisas but quality is generally considered a step up and I think they're a good baseline for "average". Do not buy Kimber.

I know tisas is turk shit but I know the 1911 Is a pretty simple design sorta so I figured maybe they'd at least run ok as long as you stick with what it was designed for

I wish. If an enterprising fellow combined the improvements of the Hi-Power's frame and the barrel lockup of the Glock while keeping the 1911's appearance I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Doesn't really matter, the only changes between calibers are the size of the ejector, extractor, firing pin, and the slide's breechface. The receiver is the same regardless.

Shotgunning drones on the wing:

I wonder what choke he's using lol.

Why are suppressors so expensive in america?
Here theyre pretty damn cheap.

Biggest gripe i have with using shotguns as drone defense is their shitty range.
That could be remedied by using tungsten ammo however, but theyre fucking expensive.
Even then you just might be in the shrapel range, theres a few videos where a zigger managed to shoot an FPV, which blows up, peppering the shooter with shrapnel as could be seen from the impacts on the ground.

10 gauge will get you to 60 yards with the right loads. recoil is no worse than 12 gauge 3 1/2 inch loads.

Because there's a mandatory $200 tax and a bunch of other bullshit because nearly 100 years ago they decided to make them part of the NFA and despite popular myth about "poaching during the Great depression" and other such reasons at the time, the fact is silencers were never talked about in proceedings as to why they were added to this gun control bill. That said it's not just the $200 tax. Despite the NFA companies are pushing the boundaries of silencer development with sophisticated 3d printing making some genuinely worth the price. There are a lot of good ones for $500 too. And before you get on me about saying silencer and not suppressor, talk to Maxim. At the time of the bill they were called silencers

“Erm, it’s only a silencer if it was grown in the SilencerCo valley. Otherwise what you have is a sparkling suppressor.”

Kimbers are supposed to be good and you can get one for a lot less than 2500 made by actual americans

appropriately parameterized gunbroker search: https://www.gunbroker.com/Semi-Auto-Pistols/search?PageSize=24&Sort=13&View=1&Ch-manufacturerName=Kimber&Ch-Caliber=.45 ACP
The only places I've seen Kimbers sold are Walmart so I had assumed they were low-quality mass-manufactured cheapos, but apparently the USMC utilized the "Kimber Desert Warrior" at some point during the GWOT? Can anybody speak to that and the quality of that particular model?

I'm starting to veer away from the whole youth mentality of "I'm gonna make my guns super-customized and unique and easily identifiable and badass looking" and instead more towards the lines of "I just want something that's quality and generally mil-spec that functions in harsh extreme cold conditions and functions well with very easily replaceable parts".

Ours are required to be registered so they're intended to last as long as physically possible. Can't just go to the sporting goods store and walk out with one the same day.

If you want effective to the point of boredom, Glock 17. It's so boring that it's the easiest answer.

Sorry, but nothing less than a .45's gonna suffice. Also being LDS it would probably get my Temple Recommend revoked if I didn't carry fellow church member John Moses Browning's handiwork.

A well oiled beretta is a happy beretta.

1000 rounds through the gts, I'm gonna say it. The frame decocker is much nicer then on the slide. Other then that, it's a 92 with nicer sights and a skeltonized hammer out of the box. Very happy with it.
I feel like I'm in the minority when I say Beretta coating the controls in polymer is a good idea. It might mess with the stainless look on the new Inox but high-contact surfaces being treated like that is a novel concept.

Glock 21.
But if you're dead set on a 1911 forever gun, Wilson Combat. Bill knows his shit, and even after he left his company does good work no matter what gun it is.

I have a Kimber ultra carry II that I purchased in the 90's and it has been super reliable. it was my carry gun for some time. I would trust it with my life and .45 is a fun round.
