This is probably stretching the limits of your knowledge but you woudn't happen to be able to shed any light on these conversions would you?
unfortunately i don't have much to contribute as my knowledge of japanese firearms largely starts in the smokeless era. the Murata conversions did exist though and were used primarily during both as additional arms in the Sino-Japanese war in the 1890's as well as supplementary arms for the Russo-Japanese war in the early 1900's. at the time of the Sino-Japanese war, tanegashima conversions were almost entirely given to infantry as massed fire weapons and the "craftsmenship" was excellent, but largely as a result of being both overly built with thick cast receivers that were soft enough to not crack under pressure and at the same time using hexagonal barrels that were tapering, allowing decent balance and strength. the Japanese tanegashima was likely based on portugese arquebus matchlocks from Malacca after it fell from Malay control to the Portuguese in 1510's. these were also relatively over built for the powder charge in use at the time, as it was diluted for storage in rough conditions and good powder was reserved for cannons on ships and at forts.

Is there any particular reason why this mechanism wasn't more popular in the past? Besides a "It's good enough" attitude and less of a concern regarding optics mounting?
the MG42 was incredibly influential in machine work and mechanical design but the earlier MG39 was the birth of the spring loaded reciprocating feed mechanism. what it essentially is, is the MG42 feed turned sideways and replaces the track with a separate feed pawl that is actuated by a cam surface on the side of the carrier (on the Negev there is one surface on the left side, the PK and PKM there is one on the right side, the LAMG uses two surfaces both on the carrier and in the receiver, et c).

this "short" method isn't used as much because it directly limits the weight of the belt being fed, and requires less forgiveness of gas settings for function leading to needing to be both overgassed as well as having enough travel of the carrier to not strike the rear of the receiver. there's no linkage in the Negev for easy self-adjustment like on the PKM, so the Negev and LAMG both have a gas regulator and requires the operator to adjust it as the belt lightens.

the MG42, M60, HK21, et c are self-regulating and adjusting and need nothing special to counter belt weight changes.

Made some changes to my Mark IV 22/45. Swapped out the microdot I had mounted on the factory rail to a Holosun HE407K green dot on a TandemKross mount and added some different G10 grip panels. Shaved a fair amount of weight just swapping optics and it feels significantly less top-heavy now.

Walmart has some really cool toy guns that eject shells and vibrate and even have suppressors you thread on. All under $25 too. I am shocked. Apparently the holster will actually fit a real one too. I also saw a 92, and two MP5s one with a stock. Very . The one MP5 came with a bump helmet with a pvs14 that emits a green light lol

If you want a cool toy gun, check out this half-length nerf dart gun. Great power and range and the "slide" even locks back on empty.

They got weaponlight armor now, Dark Matter Concepts CMD. Not as stupid as it looks, apparently does a good job of keeping carbon off the lense. They make them primarily for rifle lights and the X300 model is a prototype
Something I recently had an issue with, seems pretty smart although I'm not sure if it's just ribbed for the gun's pleasure or if it will divert the carbon away better.
Nigga lost the muthafuckin strap! Hate when that happens.

I'm seriously thinking of getting the new Vector SBR Gen 3 now that ATF wait times are reasonable, and since I won't be able to get a new Wildey. It's less expensive than the TP9 Pro, easier to mount a suppressor, takes GLOCK mags in whichever caliber it's chambered for, and will accept a wider variety of optics and accessories compared to the TP9 Pro. Sure, it's not as super secret squirrel sleek and sexy as the TP9, but I'll be able to afford to do more things with it, I won't need a proprietary suppressor for it, and I think it has more presence than the TP9 Pro.

Looks nice in pictures but I don't care for them otherwise. Wouldn't mind one of the PSA/H&R 635 carbines if the fsb isn't canted, I know someone with the 633 DOE and it's apparently not a terrible piece for a glorified 7" 9x19 pistol.

It's mostly going to be a range toy. I think they're pretty neat, and I like that they aren't just another direct blowback like the vast majority of PCCs/SMG style guns. I also like that they aren't just a derivative of a rifle caliber design, like all the AR9s being based off the AR15, or looking like a shrunk down SCAR like the B&T APC. The Vector is uniquely it's own thing, and that gives me the fizz. It would be awesome if they could beef the Vector up just a bit to handle 7.5fk and come up with reliable mags of comparable capacity to the other Vectors.

Bereli uploaded an AI generated rambling article about TARIFFS and TRUMP and AMMO! Where they refer to black powder instead of smokeless

"Now, can gun powder save us? Made of a compound of Saltpeter, Charcoal, and Sulfur -almost all but Charcoal is primarily imported from Canada. It doesn't seem like it'|ll help our case but the battle is not lost just yet! America actually happens to be near the top of the list for Charcoal exports.ow, can gun powder save us? I'm thinking about another but in 375 H&H because that caliber is baller and single shots are.
Hell yes, bro, do it! A Ruger No. 1 Tropical in .375 H&H would be classic. I'd be jealous for sure.
And I really dig the Bighorn Armory lever action rifles in .500 S&W and .460 S&W, I just wish they weren't $3k.
I know what you mean. I seriously considered one back when they were a bit less money. It seems as if one could get a Marlin in .45-70 with some handloads that wouldn't be too far behind a BHA in .500 S&W, and for a whole lot less. I could be wrong.
I'll be called a faggot, a pinko, a commie. But I did get a CMP m1 and not too long ago a few years. I do not enjoy it.
The ergos and ,don't match. I'm sorry.
You're not the only one. I can reasonably understand why so many people are fans of the Garand but I too dislike the ergos. I never caught on with those or the Mini-14/30.
if i had a customer looking to drop money on a do it all AR-15 for under $1k all accessories and half a case of ammo, i wouldn't feel bad selling them an M&P Sport after giving it a once-over for the customer's peace of mind.
You know, for a fed, you're not a bad guy.
galco and lone star are pretty good. and if you don't mind the wait, you can also go with Privateer or nightingale leather. triple k are actually very good leatherworkers, which is their core business (because high quality magazines sure isn't it...).
Did you ever try a Galco Yaqui Slide holster? As an aged boomer I feel that my more common attire could come to support that style of carry. Maybe.
Another option I have is to send my dad's beat up old Ruger Super Blackhawk in to Gary Reeder to have him restore and customize it.
I vote for this one.
Found an upstart manufacturer that is making Longstroke AR's
It'd be interesting to see if this takes off. I'd still find PWS Mk 1 series stuff preferable.

Speaking of, what do you all think of the PWS UXR? I admit it sounds interesting. The MSRP on those and the fact that they have a lot less commonality in parts with the ubiquitous AR platform makes it a tough sell. That said, my dumb ass will likely buy one if they release an 18" .308 model. No clue why, but I fucking love 18" .308 gas guns (so long as they're resonably accurate).

I can't take EN DASH AI slop EM DASH anymore. Save me niggerman EN DASH I'm going insane

Our advice: Buy our shit, NOW

Boomers and AI is a worse combination than pajeets with AI.
I feel bad for younger people getting into this stuff but if you've been in the game for a while you should have been grabbing the occasional box or two already.

That way you have enough and you don't freak out like they want you to.

The "consoom" meme has ruined everything this decade.

find it kind of strange that they look to have designed a propietary magazine design when at 2015 SHOT they had a model that fed from AK mags
It looks like they did that so that you don't have to change the lower to go from 5.56 to 7.62x39, just the upper and magazines.

These are some neat chicom things I'd never heard of before:
