Hey @Club Sandwich , is my stupid idea of a modernized C96 in .454 Casull even possible?
yes, and people have done it in .45 Long Colt, .38 ACP, even 9x25mm Mauser, although not magazine fed. the basic layout is convenient for large calibers with the sole exception of needing a robust breechblock that can deal with the pressure generated as well as cycle reliably without magazine overruns. with a C96, the breechblock is back far enough that poor cycling is prone to failures much more so than on a more typical browning layout where the feed is controlled by portions of the frame, slide, and breech to active guide the cartridge into position.

jesus christ this program is intimidating.

I mean you can can get a a complete PSA upper + lower for $350 + shipping, so somewhere around $400 total. There use to be sales where you could get it even cheaper than that. Not sure how they are going to compete in the poverty pony market especially when this is a entirely new product.
I'd only recommend PSA as range toys or someone who shoots like twice a year.

Shot a Shadow Systems MR920 recently.
The MR920 worked fine with factory Glock mags. Despite its gaudy appearance, the gun was unremarkable.

But Holy shit, those Magpul Glock mags are terrible. The gun couldn’t fire a single round without stovepiping or double feeding.

Fucking scary as shit. Someone has bet their life on those mags.

Sounds like that might be a Shadow Systems problem. I've got various capacity Magpul Glock mags, and they've functioned without any issue in my Glocks with a variety of 115 and 124 grain FMJs, as well as 124 grain Speer Gold Dot. That said, I carry with OEM Glock mags.

Edit: Or the mags themselves might've been clapped out. Well used?

Hate them. I had a few I threw into my bag for competition because you can always use more mags and almost every match I use them I have to rip them out of the gun because they won’t drop free after a few hours of standing around in the sun

Yes. Their low-cost stuff is good bunch of trashblasters, but I hear enough mixed things about their "premium" high-cost rifles that I would still replace the BCG and at least attempt to pull the barrel for inspection.
H&R/NoDakSpud has actual QC and dignity so if you want something that actually works well they're a safe bet.

You see a Gucci gun choke on aftermarket mags and think it's representative of the magazine's reliability? Are you shitting me?

Alright, 1911 users. What are you go to mags? I'm sick of seeing people arguing on forum threads from 2005. I see Chip McCormick and Wilson Combat 7 rounders go for about the same price $25. I've seen enough people have rapid spring wear with 8 round Wilson 47Ds that I'm sort of shying away from them. I saw one boomer complaining Wilson combat mags "don't have the dimple" but otherwise people seem to like them a lot. I know mecgar is also pretty good for the money, their comp mags are like $20.

I don’t understand why anyone buys the Glock pmags when factory Glock mags are only like 10 bucks more expensive and work perfectly. Brand recognition?

I use Wilson combat and 60 year old surplus Argentine mags.

Yeah? Because I tested both types of mags in the same gun.

Factory mags worked perfectly, magpul mags (which it was sold with) didn’t work at all.

What else am I supposed to learn from that?

You dropped the money on an MR920 and don't understand the phrase "sample size of one"? Lol wut
Magazines don’t work for people testing them on YouTube, don’t work for the other posters in this thread.

Have you considered that maybe you’re just retarded?

Magpul dicksuckers take pride in putting gray plastic crap in as many places as they can.
