Bring me up to speed on the suppressor situation. Can I waltz into the store now and just buy one?

Tho if you want something cool and vintage (looking) to hang on the wall then get a Henry Brass Lever gun. It even comes in 45-70 if you want an outdated, expensive round to go with it.
I appreciate the logical advice. The real appreciation of something like a historical long gun would be the beauty of it, to hang on the wall. But, you're absolutely right, in terms of a functional firearm to practice regularly, no way. I have a valuable MK IV 1911 and a box of .45s but I'd rather keep it as a show piece for collector value (real ivory grips too).
Sako 100 is very expensive but it could be the buy it for life rifle.
