Buds visit AAR:
They did not have the gun i wanted in stock at the store (but it is in their warehouse? don't know how that works) so I didn't buy anything except 2 boxes of .357, two pounds of H110 powder and a box of Hornady .452 cal 225gr FTX ballistic tips to load for my .45 Colt.
I did take some photos of some of the guns that stood out to me:
They had this used Dark Mountain arms bolt action 9x19. this gun weighed almost nothing and had a smooth bolt. it reminded me of the assassins gun in "the day of the jackal" The bolt was smooth when i worked it. Threaded for a Supressor and it has a wire stock. single shot of course and a 16 inch barrel. pretty neat. IIRC they wanted about $400 for it.
Next to the above gun there was a few of these Ruger 10/22 wood stocked rifles with various things carved in the stocks. this was the most amusing.
in the expensive part of the store (indicated by the wood paneling and signs forbidding you from holding the guns without a sales associate with you they had various engraved and well stock shotguns and rifles:
A very nicely engraved Beretta 486 parallelo, which is Beretta's offering for the high end SxS shotgun market. this one was 1 of 486 in this config apparently. they wanted almost 10k for it.
Underneath this beretta was a fine high condition provincial english Boxlock which i neglected to photograph. It was nice though, full case colors remaining and a nicely done dolls head rib extension. 3k for that one.
A pair of nice winchester model 70 rifles. engraved with nice wood. unfortunately in two dead cartridges. would not buy. A rifle in the same config in .338 or .30-06? I might have been persuaded.
An limited edition Marlin 1895 with engraving. they had 3 of these IIRC and wanted around 3k for them. notice spiral fluted bolt.
A Ruger red label with
wooden side plates. This is similar a Bar-in-wood action which was common for the first generation of breech loading shotguns in the 1860s. pretty neat. decent price too. these red labels were well made and have a collectors following now.
This was pretty cool. Its a manurhin in .32 long. For some reason I've always wanted one, but not enough to spend that much on it. They also had some MR73 .357's for around $4,300/
Something strange i noticed, They had Several Colt Anacondas on offer (but not the one i wanted) but the price in store was $150-200 more than the price on their online store. a little strange.
