Ended up going with Leupold for the final scope on the model 70. Cashed in a few thousand midwayUSA points for a pretty fair discount on it. should be here this week!

am i retarded for zeroing my .30-06 at 25 yards? +2.4 in at 100 yards and +0.4 at 200 yards. Shots past 200 are not in the equation and the vast majority of deer taken here are at less than 100.
Sounds like you're being honest with yourself as to how it's going to be used, so as long as you know your dope (and it sounds like you're there), if it works, it isn't stupid.

Shooting long range is cool and all but just about the only place with sight lines more than 100 yards around here is along highways. I do know of one place, but its way up in the mountains. Covered up with elk up there so I'd hesitate to target shoot lest i bump them all off into the timber.

All about the Red Right Hand Recce RPD
I really want to get some of those handguards/heatsinks but I'm already paying ~3k to build out my Lima6 and I doubt those are going to be priced for retards like me
Would love to see some cheap heatsinks, they don't seem too complicated to machine
I find this strange because I was under the impression that this method was recognized and obsolete by the mid 80's at the latest.
I wonder if the wire mesh creates more turbulence, or something? maybe they were able to get something better working with newer modeling techniques?
Maybe not aiming to max quietness but something else with the design?
I can't wait to order my upper, I need to figure out what lower to use. I like the design Hoffman is making and I might go that route

Yeah, kinda unfortunate the standard metal nutsack AR lowers don't work.
I need to buy some nutsacks and more 556, I've got 1300 links waiting to get loaded...

I don't remember if this is just for the upper (with all the enhancements) or a complete gun but I think quoted pricing for the Recce RPD is $4-5k with a standard Lima Six Upper being $3k with $2k for a build kit

I don't know anything about CNC but they're literally just aluminum round stock with a centrally bored hole, cooling fins and a channel for the gas tube.

Both Hydra Weaponry and a guy by the name of November5 are making (in the case of Hydra) an adapter for their modular lowers (I think someone has already CAD'd up a printed version) or custom lowers with proprietary bolt catch/release mechanisms. There will undoubtedly be more factory options.

I have to wonder why anyone wanted to do this
Why not, I've seen hohols suppress the PKT Co-ax MG on a BTR before.

The "Streamer" series that the baffle stacks belong to are their dedicated low back pressure line. I don't think they're really optimized for the American suppressor market due to the fragility of the mesh and ATF's views on replacement suppressor parts. Then again BOE has managed to somehow not yet get ass raped by offering unrelated monocore replacements so who knows.

The Russians have a most interesting new prototype firearm, The OTs-142. It is a lightweight belt fed 5.45 that uses an unconventional feed mechanism, it has no feed tray and you insert and remove belt boxes like magazines. This is achieved by having parts of the feed mechanism integral to the belt boxes/bags themselves, allowing for rapid reloading but potentially allowing critical fouling of the feed mechanism components. Then again if one magazine is fouled you could just rip it out and swap to a new one. The Russians either don't think this is a problem or is worth it for the benefits of rapid reloads and a lightweight overall system with monolithic rail and probably by extension receiver. It is related to the Ots-128 and MTS-566

This looks to be another example compared to an RPL-20

I'm no arms design theorist but many countries and companies look to developing belt feds that fall into the self dubbed category of "Big Assault Rifle" that allows you to do everything an assault rifle can do and potentially some things it can't do at the cost of slightly greater weight.

There is apparently an outfit in Russia making SR-25 mag compatible lowers for the Chukavin SVCh.

Bullpup FN-49

"Look how they massacred my boy!" -Don Vito Corleone

I love the FN-49. Its probably my favorite of the old wood and steel battle rifles, along with the FG42 (if you consider the FG42 a battle rifle). I also love bullpups. But these two things should never mix.

It's a similar situation to 32 magnum, which is a good revolver cartridge for weaker shooters, but has seen very little interest in the market, because most people would either step it up to 38 special, or step it down to rimfire.

And .32 H&R Magnum is the ideal cartridge for the J frame sized revolvers. You get an extra round and it's perfectly capable of matching .38 special muzzle energy.

So only affects the American civilian market. I was kinda puzzled when I saw some posts about SCAR being done, it's a relatively successful military/LE rifle.

Speculation online is that this is going to result in FN replacing it with the IWS or the Version they cooked up for MRGG contract, or maybe a completely different thing. Maybe they'll just stick to AR's for the civilian market.

Also I may have posted this before but FN IWS (it's engraved "IPC" foe Improved Performance Carbine on the lower but whatever) with that funky MFMD Suppressor

Lastly New Jersey is going after Sig Saar, I expect every other antigun AG to join in. I have mixed feelings about this, Will Ron Cohen get what he deserves or will literally nothing happen?

The SCAR is one of those guns where I want it but don't want to spend that kind of money on it. I'd rather drop the 3k on a FS2000 and even then I'd struggle pulling my card out for it

Sadly it comes and goes in popularity.
The SCAR is an answer looking for a question IMO.
Yep.

Plus the Robinson XCR exists, PWS AR uppers exist the BREN 2 and 3 exist....

Oh, was ay my local Gun store selling an unused lower and my old Wasr to fund a new Polish WBP Jack (want one wood AK, and the WBPs are allegedly a decent bit nicer than WASRs)

They had an Uzi ($2500), a Imbel CAI FAL ($1500), a Finnish Mosin (overpriced as fuck at $800) and two Mausers, a semi bubba-ed M84 and a nice Czech Vz.24..... both for $400.

I looked at the Vz.24 and 5 minutes later a walk in bought it 🥲

Now I just need $4k for the Uzi, Fal, M84, and Finnish Mosin

Steal of a deal right there. For $400 I'd have snagged that Vz as well. Always wanted a Mauser style but even Turkshit goes for more than it's worth lately. My best luck so far was getting a No. I Mk III Lee for $325 back in 2023. Furniture was cracked and it's Indian but whatever. At least the Brits were there to ensure the QC.

Pioneer have QC/durability issue
They're worth it for their PPS43 builds. Those are typically quite affordable, and fun larp guns. Can be modified with some welding to add the folding stock back if you wish. Can't speak to their PA63 builds I wonder if they licensed the design by proteus armaments
The SCAR's construction is inherently very cheap to make with modern methods. extruded aluminum upper, polymer lower. = cheap to make en masse. now, that doesn't jive with the civilian mind because when you drop 2 or 3k on just the rifle and it feels as cheap as your M&P 15 it just doesn't feel right.
I find it hard to believe that price is justified really, especially since the price point is around the same as their ARs. I suppose its just an economy of scale issue, but even then 2k on a rifle is ridiculous for what it is.
