in combat, everything is disposable depending on tempo. a heavy, expensive, complex belt box is not better than a disposable, cheap, simple, disposable belt box. that's the reality of combat. MG's are purposefully designed with positive feeds so that debris ingestion can be ameliorated to a degree and it is easy to clear and keep uptime on the gun because doctrine generally uses volume of fire and achieving and maintaining fire superiority as integral to winning fights.

i'm not saying it's a bad idea or bad technology, but it is not compatible with modern warfare outside of very specific contexts.
Oh yeah, obviously they'd be disposable in the same way magazines are disposable. I do agree about a probably specialized role, the stated Purpose of the FN Evolys is to provide as much firepower as possible while still handling like a standard rifle for use in urban areas and not as a "Real" machinegun. Still though, the thought of a KAC LAMG modified to work with such a system would be absolutely beautiful visually.

Good. Since they took over Lake City I’ve heard the only green tip coming out of the MS plant is stuff that fails military lot testing.
Scratch that, I was looking for the shipping address and It was Oxford. Oh well, It isn't sig Sauer levels of dogshit recently right?

Any reason to get a 92fs over a pt92 or a used pt99?
Sorry, to be more specific I mean I am looking to get a Taurus pt92 or a used pt99 for the nicer rear sight. It isn't for concealment or anything it is just a bedside or couchside pistol or something to shoot plates with at the range. I do really like the way the chromed steel ones look but was wondering if there was any major reason get a regular 92fs instead?

I went full retard and bought a Century CA-3 from Palmetto for $650. I know these are kit guns and hit/miss quality wise. I might regret it, maybe not. Most of my 7.62x51 I use for my MG42 so realistically I probably won't shoot it much. Always wanted one of these so fuck it

No. They won’t sell it if it’s unsafe. It could be anything from not shooting an accurate enough group to having too many function issues at extreme temperature testing.

To confirm check the headstamp. Anything from Lake City will have LC while anything from Mississippi will have WMA. I don’t know if they changed it but at one time the SKU for all LC manufacture ammo ended with a K, IE WM8551000K.

Welcome to the G3 club! I'd check the head spacing on the chamber and make sure everything is greased.

The ATF doesn't want you to know this, but you too can legally own hand grenades. The secret? They're sold under the brand "Century Arms".

In all seriousness why did you not go for the PTR-91? It is very much random chance with anything from Century.

wtf? pictures please?

the mg3 is just a mg42 in 7.62. Conversion parts are available to covert from 8mm to 7.62.

Been wanting a USP but not enough to like... go out of my way to get one. Just decided to wait, and just like Cobes always said, waiting patiently paid off cuz one was traded in at my local place I got for a steal.

Now to spend more on magazines then I did on the actual gun.

I've also been informed to check bolt gap

From my understanding the receiver and barrel are from PTR while the rest is parts kit junk from Century, Like I said I probably won't shoot it much and in my eyes its worth $650.

It is just a yugo build, I usually have a MG3 top cover and tray on it but I was having issues so its back to the regular. I took the bipod off for the photo.

Hell yeah, nice purchase.

Still way cooler than any firearm I own.

Fit and finish (and a modest degree of accuracy in my anecdotal sample of one of each) is nicer on the Beretta, but the PT92 is "fine". It'll go bang every time you want it to and won't when you don't.

That is the headspace. Check the gap between the bolthead and bolt carrier with feeler guages. Should be roughly .020"-.010" give or take. Bigger gap means tigher headspace. Mine came in at around .017

PTR assembled with a PTR receiver. The kits aren't junk per sey, but they are surplus, and century is selling them without any refinishing. That is to say, they are built off of surplus portugese manufactured G3s, so they're going to run fine generally, but they won't be pretty. The only real issue I've heard is some roller dent problems, and that can be fairly easily fixed with larger rollers and/or a new recoil spring.

They're emphatically  not the absolute DOGS that the century c308 sporters were (which were actually assembled by century). Those things are often only worth the parts they come with (ask me how I know lol).

I can sadly also confirm this to be the case. I wish I had done a little bit of research before my first few firearms purchases. Nope, my dumbass monkey brain just went "holy shit, is that a G3?! I'll take it!"
I got lucky that when I bought mine, PTR had great quality control. I've heard though that as the surplus parts are running dry, the quality control has dipped. If you're just using it on the range and not for hunting, it should be fine. Just stick to 7.62 nato or lighter .308 rounds and you should be fine.
