I was window shopping today about AR builds and was wondering as far as uppers and barrels go.

Which company usually has the best uppers and as far as barrels, I was thinking of going for a 20 inch barrel for an AR-15.

And is this 223 Wylde stuff good or a meme?

As far as furniture, I was thinking Magpul and since I am currently in California, buy stuff from Strike Industries for the internals.

I was looking into free floating handguards and I am surprised at how mloks are everywhere. I find it hard to work with mloks and been looking for picatinny quad rails.
Bro stay away from SI. You don't want to go all speed holes and anodized red parts.

SI makes some pretty nice muzzle devices (the J-Comp is a steal and they have a number of options that aren't bad at all), but the rest of their stuff is hit or miss. I'm not a fan of the red/blue/gold nonsense, but I don't care if other people like them.

They do make a varied lineup of parts when it comes to platforms. Their mil discount isn't bad.

I guess my problem isn't with Strike Industries it's with the cringelords that love them.

Yeah - the guys that stick all the red parts on their black rifles. It's not my thing, but it's also not my gun, so I mostly don't care. I freely admit that I've used some of their stuff (muzzle devices, ambi safeties, etc ) and would do so again depending on cost/need/etc.

Their LINK grip is actually really good.

I have their CZ scorpion mag release. It's nice. The new faux suppressor handguard set they dropped is ugly as sin though.

SI has decent products for their demographic that they cater to. I've used some of their stuff out of curiosity and it held up to abuse. Yeah, most of their customer base are cringe lords but so is the vast majority of the 2A crowd unfortunately.

SI is probably one of the few companies that cater to California's retarded rules on pistol grips and other compliance shit to keep rifles featureless.

Almost every AR-15 sold in California that is featureless, uses the SI sharkfin grip.
The Thordsen stock or the FightLite SCR are probably better choices for those behind enemy lines. They're not great, but they're the least bad choices available.

Currently pulling down some decent overtime at work due to one of my coworkers getting himself shit-canned for a really retarded reason, so I'm helping to fill the vacant shifts until we can hire someone new. Which is pretty fortuitous because I recently started saving for a custom shoulder holster. As much as I love my custom MHI themed OWB holster and magazine carrier, I unfortunately can't zip up my leather jacket with them on my belt. I've got a Vanson Leathers Chopper jacket that I love, but it's too short and the waist too snug for me to be able to zip it up and keep my carry rig concealed.

I've been looking at shoulder holsters for many years and have settled on the Nightingale Leather Sandpiper shoulder rig. The thing that I really like about the Sandpiper is that it has a horizontal sway strap that runs across the middle of your back and connects the holster side with the magazine carrier side to keep things in place when you draw the pistol or pull a mag out. There are no tie down straps to loop around your belt to clip to your pants waist, so it's really simple and trouble-free to don and doff the rig. I'll be ordering mine for my Dan Wesson Specialist in black with red stitching and brass hardware, the whole rig fully lined, and with a triple magazine carrier to help balance out the weight of the pistol and have an extra reload on hand if necessary. I'm also going to get four of the Vickers Extreme Duty 8rnd magazines from Wilson Combat. I really like how solid and rugged the Vickers mags are.

I fully endorse the Sandpiper. Used it for years before I had my current holster custom made by a friend. Needs to wear in a bit, but afterwards it's one of the best in class I've ever used. I still have mine and wear it on occasion. Only complaint I have is that the mag pockets took more time to wear in than anything else which made training with it a bit more difficult even after the rest of the rig was worn in.

A thank you to everyone with advice on dealing with the flinch, I've bought some snap caps and am going to practice to get over it.

Thordsen is pretty expensive though it does have kind of like a 1960s style sci fi look to it. However looks gay as hell in today's post Call of Duty Tacticool era.

I have the sparrow grip and the SI Megafin. I found the sparrow grip good for like sitting on a bench shooting but settles on the Megafin since I find it easier to shoot with it from a standing position.

I guess its something to do with my hands not large enough.

Went to the range today and learned that I've developed a significant flinch with my .380. I managed to stay in line horizontally with the black circle on all the shots but around half of them ended up far below, in the 7 & 6 rings, of the B-8 targets I was using. I haven't had this as a problem before so to notice this develop before my eyes was pretty disheartening. (:_(
I don't know if it's the same cause, but I had something similar happen to me. I was pretty sure it wasn't anticipation or flinch, it felt more like a mechanical issue where pulling the trigger would make my dominant hand move the barrel downwards.
Someone at the range told me to isolate and squeeze the pinky finger in my dominant hand much tighter while gripping than I had been. There was an immediate improvement.
Just a suggestion to try.

Yeah, all the best gun leather requires breaking in. Luckily the guy who made my MHI themed rig taught me a method of breaking in holsters and magazine carriers that's pretty quick and easy and works really well.

Put it in a plastic bag for forever?
