Currently pulling down some decent overtime at work due to one of my coworkers getting himself shit-canned for a really retarded reason, so I'm helping to fill the vacant shifts until we can hire someone new. Which is pretty fortuitous because I recently started saving for a custom shoulder holster. As much as I love my custom MHI themed OWB holster and magazine carrier, I unfortunately can't zip up my leather jacket with them on my belt. I've got a Vanson Leathers Chopper jacket that I love, but it's too short and the waist too snug for me to be able to zip it up and keep my carry rig concealed.
I've been looking at shoulder holsters for many years and have settled on the Nightingale Leather Sandpiper shoulder rig. The thing that I really like about the Sandpiper is that it has a horizontal sway strap that runs across the middle of your back and connects the holster side with the magazine carrier side to keep things in place when you draw the pistol or pull a mag out. There are no tie down straps to loop around your belt to clip to your pants waist, so it's really simple and trouble-free to don and doff the rig. I'll be ordering mine for my Dan Wesson Specialist in black with red stitching and brass hardware, the whole rig fully lined, and with a triple magazine carrier to help balance out the weight of the pistol and have an extra reload on hand if necessary. I'm also going to get four of the Vickers Extreme Duty 8rnd magazines from Wilson Combat. I really like how solid and rugged the Vickers mags are.
