navi was less annoying as a character and more annoying as a repetitive sound clip. Otherwise she was pretty tame. Majora's mask and Twilight princess had helper characters with a lot more of an abrasive attitude that people liked more, but on top of that they wern't going HEY! every time you locked into an enemy.

Still yeah it's got that specific stink about the writing.

I will never forget playing Metroid 2 alone in my room at night as a kid. The intensely isolating experience of the graphics, music, and labyrinthian maze you can easily get lost in. No media for children offered that kind of experience to me. If that experience had been repeatedly undercut by some retard Redditor making jokes, it certainly wouldn't have stuck with me so strongly.

This doesn't make me angry, it just makes me sad that tons of kids are having that kind of experience ripped away from them by millennial retards who think they know best, who have a compulsive need for their games to be "cozy".

I'm just still mad that they released Prime on switch but not 2 or 3 when the fucking wii collection had all 3.

After how garbage the Switch experience was (it never even got Windwaker and time locked Mario was bullshit) I'm missing the Switch 2.

Looking at this gameplay I made the correct call. Nintendo doesn't care about quality anymore, just look at the recent Pokémon. Hell, even Inazuma Eleven, a ancient weeb soccer game got a better recent release than any 'beloved' Nintendo IP.

Rate me optimistic but it seems the game is setting him up to be slaughtered or become a damsel in distress.. It’s more easier to have an atmospheric, isolated experience from a game dev perspective than a NPC with new dialogue and animation that interacts well with new environments for the entire game.

There's a lot of better written versions of that out there. This has "forespoken" type vibes about it int erms of how the guy's written.

They likely do, at least the creatives. The higher ups likely have begun doing what other game companies have been doing though of "if a game sells less than your main successes start changing it and dumbing it down to chase trends" shit. Youtube clickbait people always talk about how poorly metroid sells compared to other nintendo games but it's FUCKING NINTENDO of course the shit that's not mario or pokemon is gonna be smaller!

This is true but I still kinda like him. I'll have to see how the full game plays out, could be that he's just very early-game and disappears once you're out of the starting areas.

I barely play modern games either but I played the demo for Pikmin 4 and it had the same type of thing. It's a constant "tutorial" that literally tells you exactly where to go and what to do at all times, for every second of the game. Words to describe it: spoon-feeding and hand-holding. Picture the GPS in GTA except instead of being in the corner of the screen it's the entire screen, for the entire game whether you're in a vehicle or not. Nintendo sucks now.
