81... My disappointment was to be expected, and my day is mildly dejected. Not as bad as Other M, of course, but mid as fuck. And I would argue that something in the Prime series - should never be mid, and in some ways, mid is worse than bad.

Before the NPCs were even shown: I thought the new (red) suit looked mid as fuck, the music sounded mid as fuck, the Metroidcycle was worrying as fuck, the chosen one plot (again) sounded mid, the psychic powers looked gimmicky as fuck,
the planet's dumbass name was PEAK MID, the main villain being absent was strange, and the hollow open world was naturally worrying as fuck... Shit never looked right outside of the June 2024 trailer.
The June 2024 trailer was awesome, totally what I hoped for. Very impressive graphics, the slightly tweaked Varia suit was the best Samus ever had, and the story looked like it was picking up immediately after 3. But - even in that trailer all the way back then, one thing made me feel uneasy. That last theme that played when Samus appeared in the jungle, it sounded worryingly bland. The vibe was clearly trying to invoke "Metroid Prime"... but the song just sounded like, discount or knockoff Metroid Prime.
This sounded mid to me... I don't know if anyone else felt the same. I tried to brush it off as a petty gripe as the months went on, but it was always nagging me. If the music is mid, the game will be mid. And look where we are. That's not even getting into the dieversity hire Feds, which of course were already speculated to be tagalongs for the entire adventure... and of course, they were. Metroid can't be Metroid, it has to be Halo Infinite, because surely that will sell... Prime 4 was the only reason I kept my Switch, now I am at least free to ignore this next generation and continue emulating superior games from the past before greed and winning buttfucked nintendo.
