collarless cats aren't that bad. the real issue with them is that their skills are so varied, it's hard to make a good build off of one. also, it turns out having a butcher with the "automatically pull enemies when they stop moving in your line of sight" passive is really, really fucking bad if you're fighting the crater maker.

i tried this and it won't let you go back to the game unless the leech is on
Fuck, they thought of that too.

Anyhow, was browsing Mewgenics's Nexus mods page and the six most popular mods are (not counting a save editor and the aptly-named "Mewtator" mod manager) are 1 free reroll, show set bonuses, no item breakage, disable Steven, better furniture stats, and event descriptions.

Ok so you could have: a tank with stone pets and, if the stars align, a spell that synergizes and spawns rocks...

Or a hunter that hits everyone that moves for 15-30 damage, who's attacks bounce to 3 other targets and crit, then has a spell thag hits the boss multiple times (can crit) and has another ranged spell that can hit 30 damage (and crit) on a single target each turn.

So, to my great dismay, I have recently learned that you cannot activate the second obelisk without BEATING PYROPHINA. Given that I wiped to her the first time, and currently have a house fight upcoming (the Terminator guy), Steven does not have the option to resummon her available. I am also not sure if he normally has that option, as I only see Guillotina's three heads in his menu (even if they're blacked out) and I don't recall seeing Pyrophina in his selection either. I am sick to fucking death of the Moon, as I've done four runs to it back-to-back now (and am currently refusing to bring another quest item there because if I have to fight the Man in the Moon again I'm going to burst a blood vessel), and I'm just praying I haven't softlocked my game by losing to the stupid fucking dragon.

What exactly can I do in this situation? The next house boss is two days away. Do I just grind furniture until he's gone and then hope and pray that Steven can resummon Pyrophina without issue? Do I have to do something specific to unlock Pyrophina's resummoning so that I can fight her properly? Can I even get the appropriate quest item if it's just a resummon and not the actual fight? I am 90 hours in. If I have to restart my entire campaign due to a giant red traffic cone, I will personally send McMillen an angry email chewing him out for being a petty faggot.

the strongest mage i've had in a run so far sacrificed himself for the sake of the leech quest. god bless him and his homing missile spam

How did you skip Pyrohina?

The good news is that she will return to fight you if you fail a fight... Again and again and again...

You don't have to grind the core, but I think if you beat the past while in-between encounters, the game will queue up terminator before the Pyrohina.

The bad news is you need to beat the kaijus duel too if you want to unlock the rift.

I skipped her by losing to her like a little bitch. She never returned. Zaratana came immediately after her, and now I'm fighting some terminator guy.

Not in my case, apparently.

You don't have to grind the moon, but I think if you beat the past while in-between encounters, the game will queue up terminator before the Pyrohina.
Just my luck lol. So I guess I just have to beat the Terminator and wait a while?

The bad news is you need to beat the two kaijus too if you want to unlock the rift.
That's not an issue, I'm far more prepared for Pyrophina now. (I am also smart enough to realize that something with PYRO in the name is going to do a lot of FIRE damage that spamming Cleanse might not be enough to mitigate.) I've got lots more cats with broken shit to abuse on them and plenty more that can spawn water tiles for the low low price of 2 mana a pop.

Speaking of broken shit: lol, lmao

I'm not even to the Sewers yet, but this singular son of a bitch has obsoleted every other member of my team. Spread Sorrow is so unbelievably broken. It is so ridiculously, ridiculously fucking broken. With a single Soul Link, Kale kills half the map. With one Charmed Arrow, she turns half the enemy's army against them. I have no idea if Animal Control will activate alongside Spread Sorrow, since I just got it (right before Radical Rat), but if it does then I am looking forward to the utter chaos that will ensue. Necromancer/Hunter multiclassing is a match made in heaven, I would seriously recommend almost no other combo as highly.

EDIT: it is worth noting that she shares a team with a Monk that can hit 7 times in one turn and a Psychic that can insta-kill anything on the map on her first turn

EDIT 2: Animal Control does not count as a debuff (and therefore doesn't work with Spread Sorrow) but it doesn't matter because it's still busted and Kale is now clearing entire maps on her first turn :story:

EDIT 3: THE PSYCHIC CAN'T MISS ANYMORE

Will she be decent competition for the "everything dies in one turn" Necromancer?? now's my chance to find out!

EDIT 4: yes

the only mage combo I found to be immensely OP so far was the magic missile spam. No other mage I had then came close to the sheer lol fuck you and your bitch horse you rode on from across the map like that guy.

it's kinda funny how simple it is but man was it effective. he had the passives to let him double cast if you only used one spell the last turn and increase int after your turn. he blasted dybbuk in maybe three turns but had to get put down by the other cats for flying too close to the sun

Mine was just a combo of
Brainstorm - Reduce mana cost of all spells by 1
Magic missile skill
Passive to turn his basic attack into magic missile as well

He could have been so much more cracked, but these three was enough to already break bosses. I'd imagine you want a passive that gives int, and maybe a colourless skill that also increases int/magic power.

I had the "grant ally mana" spell and the "allies get allstats when casting +7 mana spell" which was a super neat support.

I wonder if hard caps would make this game more balanced; ie AllStats should cap at 20, thorns at 20, etc. It's something Edmund might consider since stacking stats past 20 is fun and makes some bosses laughably easy.

Collarless Run on Hard Mode
>equip guns on my cats
>don´t use guns
>Mini-Me kitties are oneshotting mobs or spamming druid´s songs

How was this the hard mode again if i have like three cats going around with their mini-me´s?

Not very far yet, just cleared Junkyard for the first time. Had some bad luck on a few runs combined with all of my cats hitting on the local prude which means I'm scraping the barrel for now and going back to doing Alley/Sewer runs with strays until I can get back on track.

I miss Mom's Knife + Nat 20 + Horse Blinders already. My beloved meat grinder.

The prude fucking everything up is named Karkat btw and has the Anisa meows which I think is genuinely biblical levels of foreshadowing. I really should have known.

I am enjoying the strangest synergy I have a butcher with duke of flies, which causes food pickups to turn into flies that follow me through battles, a necromancer that causes destroyed corpses to create food, and a spider injector sidequest item that injects four spiderlings into my allies the result is that I now have a swarm of flies that explode into friendly spiders that then go onto make my enemies explode into food which creates more flies. my last fight played itself and I haven't left the alley yet

it's sort of obvious i guess, but one thing that helps a ton with base class viability is getting cats with pumped con, and other stats but con in particular helps survive until they come "online". and stuff like having a cat with base 6+ movement to be a butcher, having base stat cats fill in the starting weaknesses instead of explicitly the best str but worse movement etc, then fixing str through levels. thief and others feel a lot better with "high" base con, helps druid's crow a ton, and it's kind of a secret mandatory thing for tinkerer since it affects the bot suit, too, which turns it from a liability to something that works when you have 40+hp. having like 16 starting hp feels shit for a lot of classes, especially if you don't get much health upgrades, or Lord forbid negatives. having like, a thief able to take a few hits changes your view of the class and makes them more interesting/viable, or intentionally like they should be, even though they don't get those stats as base which gives the impression they shouldn't be important for that class.

I skipped her by losing to her like a little bitch. She never returned. Zaratana came immediately after her, and now I'm fighting some terminator guy.
i've not run into that problem, but i always assumed it made them added to a rotation. have you tried sending one stray to the terminator until pyrophina's countdown happens? i don't see why it'd lock you into act 3's bosses exclusively when 2's are available
Steven does not have the option to resummon her available
yeah steven's for replays of beat bosses/content

you don't need it i guess, but some things really good in that fight are the water hose item, water feeder for constant cleanse, the water mutation which you have i guess. i also was forced to work with a retard strategy as a last ditch effort, where i had a butcher with the damage=thorns, other thorn items i think, vurp, and only a water bottle that cleansed fire. i don't recommend it because it wound up being close af lol.

also, one thing that helps a ton is making sure you have an ability or weapon like pliers that applies weakness and making sure they're always applied. in the duel, remember you only have to damage/take down one, and pyrophina is easier to kill because zaratana has a turtle mode she activates periodically. i was scared of the 3 way duel at first but from my experience it's far easier than the singles because they mostly just try to fuck with each other, giving plenty of time to heal/move, but still make sure you have plenty of con and some revive jic

edit: also, one thing i newly learned, is that the persuasion rod quest, hope that's the right name, the fucking metal club that charms enemies, the quest and item are one time a save, apparently. don't fuckin know why, and apparently why dev is aware of it and only wondering if he should make the achievement unlock still if you fail. it's not a broken item and not easter-eggy like the ribbon so just weird.

speaking of the ribbon, take it with salt, but apparently the wiki says if you have a cat equipped with it, it skips a phase of the final boss in the infinite. pretty sure it actually just makes it harder with how the boss works though, unless it skips the ENTIRE standing phase. that's the only known use of the ribbon and seems to make sense with the "it shines great in the light" >most light in the game
